Supermoon 2012: Biggest full moon of the year

In addition to a great looking moon, and very high tides, the Sea of Cortez will see very LOW tides. I have a pangero amigo in the Jaguey area who uses those low tides to harvest the most ginormous and delicious scallops I have ever run across. Right from the shell into garlic butter and yum!

Local Projects on the Move! Reprint

That will be so convenient. Get on one of the regularly scheduled flights to Puerto Penasco from Chicago, or New York or L.A. and board your cruise ship! Maybe take in a trade show after? I do like the Jerry Train from Caborca! That could actually bring some people who aren't afraid to visit...

    Long time no SEA!

Just nibbled a bit! Hey Stuart! I have been nearly swallowed and chewed up a few times lately but I don't yet sleep with the fishes. Kenny, I will bear that in mind, as I see the forum is a proof based bragging board these days! Thanks to all you guys who keep this forum fresh. If I don't have...

    Long time no SEA!

Hey all you crazy Sea of Cortez frequent fishers! As usual I have learned ever so much reading your posts on this truly excellent forum! I have not been down to Sonora for one year when I last went to Santo Tomas corvina fishing. I am going down May 17-21 at long last. I am hoping to make it a...

    Great Weekend, Horrific Ending

Wow Stuart, that is a sad and cautionary tale! One friend insists on taking that route while I prefer the i-10 and 85 combo. Goes to show that the least safe part of going to Sonora is driving to and from that wonderful part of Mexico.

AZ Republic Front Page Today: Dagger in Spring Breaks Heart

Long time no post, and for that I say sorry! My life has kept me from the Sea of Cortez far too much. I am going fishing in May down south, and was planning a trip with some friends who have never been down. Most are now too scared to go, which is their loss. I sent a nice email to the author...

    Corvina Hunting This Weekend

OK, better late than never? Kenny that ugly guy? Don't know him! Jerry I actually knew "The German" and my Dad saw him in his uniform twice. Audsley, I have never fished La Pinta, just the area around Santo Tomas. My report: Our first day we arrived at 9am and started south fishing about a...

How many times have you been handcuffed by the Border Patrol?

Sounds like a terror watch list issue. There is an appeal process of some sort that has worked for some people with name matches. I have a common name too but have been lucky so far. I salute your philosophical approach to this incredible affront to your dignity and peace of mind.

    Corvina Hunting This Weekend

Hi everyone! Long time no post. I haven't been south of the border since Santo Tomas in early May. Most of my travels have been for family events the past two years. By the way, we caught a ton of Corvina in May some of good size (up to 5 lbs). I am hoping the weather calms down and warms up by...

    Early and late for Corvina?

I fish mostly Santo Tomas area beaches. I have been doing it for 36 years. I am leaving this afternoon in fact. Work has kept me off the beach and off this board way too much! I fish pretty much all day long every day I'm there. I have had hot action at all times of day and in all parts of the...

Passport? I don't need no stinking passport

Read the Fine Print Tell everyone you know to get a da*% passport or passport card. The more people sail right through with the proper paperwork the easier for all of us to cross that congested border. They won't turn folks back who can reasonably prove they are US citizens, but every one they...

Deadly drug violence hits near Rocky Point

That is in Y Griega? Well I have been working to hard, and didn't catch all the details just the headlines. I thought all the ruckus was between Caborca and Sonoyta. I am probably headed down through Y Griega next weekend on the way to El Desemboque. Looks like I may have a large escort!

    Verizon Cell Phone

All my buddies were on Verizon and phones were working in Penasco. Sprint never did, so I switched and now it doesn't work. Really wishing I hadn't bought that smart phone. Makes me feel, well, not smart? ATT Tmobile still working for you guys? It may be worth my time to fight them to let me out...

Happy Birthday and Thanks! Hey Tyler, hope you have a great day and a great week (I always celebrate my birth week-1 day isn't enough)! Thanks so much for all you do to keep the cogs and wheels turning on this board! You have no idea how much this means to so many of us. This is one of the best...

    Swine Flu

Safest place in the world if you are scared of Pig Flu is on a plane to Puerto Vallarta. You may even be the only passenger. When you get there the empty hotel should have been sterilized to an inch of it's life and the empty restaurants as well. I think the whine flu is a more fitting name. The...

    Sting Ray protection?

The booties in the link are similar to what I wear wade fishing. Unless you are wearing hardened armor type boots over ankle nothing will provide total protection. That said, any material the barb has to pass through will lessen the impact of even a direct hit. It is the junk on the barb that...
