    Question for the 4 Wheelers....

Do I misunderstand how they rate the winches???....isn't 2000-2500 lbs. the "pulling power"? You should be able to move a vehicle that weighs 5000-6000 lbs. with that much pull (it's just rolling resistance)...or in the case of getting stuck in sand on pretty level ground ....how it's happened...

    Question for the 4 Wheelers....

Will a 2000 or 2500 lb winch be able to break a vehicle (truck) loose from getting stuck in the sand?....I'm not talking about the axles buried....or would I need to go to something bigger?

Photo of New Road Work on Malecon Entrance

If you make a hard left at the fork, that street (Zaragoza)takes you all the way to 10 de Julio...you should be able to make a right and empty out right before the turn into the Malecon (and the big parking lot).

    Thunder update

This brings a chuckle to me....remember all the questions I kept asking about fuel???....and the responses that I got that fuel would be available from a distributor? I got the same info when I spoke to Bob Livingston...that he had a distributor lined up to bring in fuel! I can understand that...

    Border Logic

I called down to CBP Lukeville...and they said that those new lanes (I call them the "express lanes") are not capable of reading the RFID chip in the passport (book) but can read the chip in the card.....go figure????? I know that you have to have the passport book open for the rfid to be...

    Need help once again....

The problem with the ammonia cycle (most rv type refirgerators), is that repair facilities even back home are limited....you can't slap on gages and charge them up with freon!!! I would still try switching over to propane because I think you'll get more heating then from the glow plug when on...

    Need help once again....

What Chari said...if it's an amonia cycle rv frig...make sure the vent thru the roof is clear....and the glow plug is actually hot (if running on the electrical side). Also try switching to propane to see if that helps.

    Border Logic

What's the logic with the new lanes "only" for the passcards.....since the newer passports also have a rfid chip in them, and can be read by the scanner. I've been "told" by the agents that you can't go thru those lanes with a passport...but have read on the website (somewhere) that you can!

There is no Shrimp Festival in October. Hope you'll come down anyway.

For those of you down the following weekend (15th), there is also a lot going on....Thunder on the Beach, Palooza concert, and heard there was also a beach volleyball tournament at the resorts, although I don't have the specifics on that. If you've never heard Mark Mulligan...check him out. He...

    Insurance

I learned the hard way with that one accident about insurance policies...although I was lucky and didn't get burned too bad on the labor rate....the company who handled claims in the US for the Mexican company had negotiated a higher labor rate then was stated in my policy (I got $49/hr back in...
