Fishing report for 6/26 and 6/27

Hah. That's pretty good advice Art. Dave was telling us that Shawn also got skunked his first time in Lobos, so maybe that's just the way it goes... For the weekend we still caught plenty of fish to load the freezer, so it was a great time.

Fishing report for 6/26 and 6/27

This is a perfect example of how fickle the sport of fishing can be on 2 consecutive days. We arrived in RP on Saturday evening; gassed up, launched, ate dinner, and turned in. At 5am Sunday morning, we met Kim (Parrothead Pescador) at the Marina and ran to the end of Whale hill to catch...

lobos fishing with Ray and Connie

Very Nice. You guys did better in Lobos than we did on Monday, that's for sure. We got down there about 1:00 on Monday afternoon to fish the evening slack tide, but the seas were up over 2 feet and the water was churned up pretty good.

    Fish Stories - June 7 to 9 (Post #3)

Awesome reports Shawn! Glad I was able to hang out at Capones with you and share fish stories. We'll get out the water together some day I'm sure. I'm loading up right now to head down this afternoon to fish tomorrow and Monday. If the buoyweather forcast stays accurate then we're gonna fish...

    Pemex Fuel exchange rates...

I've had similar issues using my visa at the first station on the left when you are entering town. one time I even had my bank on the phone with me while the guy ran my card and it came back denied, and the bank operator said she did not even see the transaction coming through.

    Pemex Fuel exchange rates...

Hah... that would be a short trip. I usually use the CircleK near the marina as well, but sometimes that tiny parking lot is pure pandemonium. I guess the Pemex on Sinaloa near the PlayaInn is not too far away that I couldn't run over there if the CircleK is a madhouse... I'll tell ya, the...

    Pemex Fuel exchange rates...

Please post the prices and currency exchange rates you've found at the various gas stations around Puerto Penasco recently. My boat is empty, so I'll be pumping almost 150 gallons into it this coming weekend. Even though they are all Pemex owned, I've noticed in the past that different...

    marlin in rocky point

No Kidding... The rules are ok to ignore- only until the guy in your face (with the other two camo'd guys with SR47's standing behind him) says that they are NOT ok to ignore... I'll hedge my bets by simply following the rules as written.

    marlin in rocky point

I hope that's the case... We saw the San Felipe guys that cleaned out the 51 to 53 mile reefs when they were unloading in RP Harbor and they had their lines coiled up and clearly visible on the Mother Ship like they were proudly flying a flag.

    marlin in rocky point

I'm still reading that "Valentine and Friends" book and the stories from the 50's and 60's of the Cholla Bay Sportsmen nailing Sails, Dorado, and small marlin 5 miles off of Pelican Point make me yearn for the good old days... So Rick- why did the line break? Did you forget that the drag was...

    Joke

HIS AND HER DIARY FOR THE SAME DAY: Her Diary: Tonight, I thought my husband was acting weird. We had made plans to meet at a nice restaurant for dinner. I was shopping with my friends all day long while he was at teh lake fishing, so I thought he was upset at the fact...

    Getting crazy in Lobos

Ok, First-off I'm glad you and Scott are safe and sound... and I'm glad you caught fish. Now, having said that- I am laughing my ass off at the mental image of all of this... :)

Stops by The Mexican Navy This Weekend?

I was talking to Rick Hammer this past Tuesday about the guy who got his boat confiscated at the island- did anyone ever find out who it was? If he was a gringo I would think that someone would know someone who knew who it was. As to the question of whether the island is really off limits to...

    Tiburon trip report- June 4-7

Agree with Stuart- I always declare that we have fish in the cooler, but I never mention how much- I wait for them to ask how many pounds, and then I give them the quizical look and say "I don't know- 20, maybe 25 pounds" We actually got stopped for a 20 minute secondary check when we drove...

    Tiburon trip report- June 4-7

Hah! Whenever my neighbors and relatives know I'm coming home from a fishing trip, they all come running to my house, ready to raid the ice chests... I'm lucky if 5 pounds makes it into my own freeezer.

    Boat for Sale, Price Lowered!

Very nice boat, and a great engine. The boat market definitely favors the buyer these days- good luck with the sale.

    Tiburon trip report- June 4-7

My friend Mark's son (Mark Jr.) just graduated high school, and is an avid fisherman, so the prospect of a RP deep sea trip seemed like the perfect graduation gift. Plus, my friend Trent and I have been working hellish hours over the past month (60-80 hour weeks), so a weekend without any work...
