    Critical water shortage in Penasco

Yuuuuuuugggge  at all of you! Seems like a good ol' fashioned pissin' contest; the only thing missing is Happy. I've been at Whale Hill and REALLY needed a shower after a day of fishing and... discovered that if I do it right, I can shower using 2.5 bottled waters. We used an AC...

LAT / LON, WAYPOINTS AND FISHING SPOTS....

Took me years to build my collection, but they are worth it. Still have many that I haven't even tried. I always try a new one every now and then just to see what's there. Most of the times, that would be nothing. Somebody MIGHT have a caught a fish there at somepoint, or there may have been...

    pontoon boats

Pontoons are a no-go for the ocean, Wendell. While it might be okay on the nicest of days, all it takes is a little wind and you're screwed. Cats are a "hull" different story. ;) You'd be much better with a decent little V-hull, aluminum or fiberglass.

Crime - Surprised it isn't here yet...

Here, as in a thread on this forum, which has become the sleepy little village that Penasco used to be. I'm connected with the Penasco group on Facebook and to hear them tell it, houses are getting broken into and ripped off in near epidemic fashion at the moment, even stealing pictures off the...

    Cost of Living

I'd spend that much a month just in gas to go fishing. o_O

If you don't stop catching those golden grouper, you'll get bad ju-ju!! ;)

    Bad accident this morning

Keep driving like hell... and you'll get there. Still, I hate to see these these things after pulling a guy out of a burning truck on Dead Cow highway a few years ago. He was lucky. By the grace of God (and LifeFlight), he survived.

    Grouper Fishing June 16-17

Nice! Given the heat of late and what I'm seeing for temps in Penasco right now, battling those bad boys had to be brutal. But I know you... it could be the very fires of hell itself and you'd still be fishing! :D

You're new here, huh? <kidding> The Northern Sea of Cortez is relatively shallow from years of catching silt from the Colorado River. You can go out miles before you hit 100 ft. depth in many, many places. Southern Sea of Cortez is different. Go a mile or so out and you're in several hundred...

    Judging distance on the water...

Years ago, I fished with panga guys that would go out miles and never have a GPS, but put you on the reef every time. Part of it is by time, the other part by direction, and third, by mental view of the mountains on shore. I always found it amazing, but years of doing that makes you pretty...

    Aquatic cocaine

Indeed. You know how totuava bladders became known to the Chinese? Because there are only two places in the world with populations of them -- one WAS the Yellow River basin in China and the other, as you know, is our own Sea of Cortez. The ones in the Yellow River are all but gone. There was a...

    Chino's Tacos

Ditto. And it's the axe-grinding part that grinds my gears. You are welcome to have any opinion, even a negative one of a place/event/whatever. But when the ONLY thing you broadcast is negativity about said place/event, maybe you should leave and go find a new playground that makes you happy.

    Chino's Tacos

It's all Facebook's fault. Yeah, I know not totally true, but a big part of it. And for whatever reason, you don't see the same idiocy on Facebook. If you do, YOU can unfriend said person, hide their comments, whatever. While I don't think Internet Forums are dead just yet, traffic to them for...

Would my set up be ok for shore fishing?

They do, but they are little tykes. We've caught them when making bait close to shore on sabikis. The el grande models don't seem to come that far north, but can be caught further south at Lobos. Have hooked up some righteous size ones down there.

What are the new rules for bringing a boat across the border?

So much for the "Free Zone." I have a TIP for my boat. They are good for 10 years. Never needed more than the registration for Rocky Point, but haven't towed it back down there in a year, so will see. TIPs are a must have if you want to go further south to San Carlos or such. They won't let you...

What are the new rules for bringing a boat across the border?

Is it registered in AZ? If so, your registration should be fine if you are only going to Rocky Point.

    Boat Storage?

Safe Marine is a good option (short term) and I also always launch there. However, there are much cheaper places to store your boat if your plan is to leave it there for awhile. Safe Marine charges long term storage by the foot, based on the length of your trailer. Whale Hill is a much cheaper...

Govt sets temporary ban for shrimp in the Pacific

Shrimp season closed yesterday. I ate the last one. Along with a 25 lb. yellowtail and two 30 lb. white seabass we raped from ocean. :p
