    Vigilantes strike in Penasco

Heck -- Wrong place at wrong time is a nightly gamble in Phoenix and elsewhere . . . . .

    Early weather change, I think

It's windy and 87 out eastward. Beautiful. Last night sitting outside in the breeze under a full moon was not too awful either.

    Vegan?

I had wondered -- after having exposed the vegan thing against my better judgment -- why it took so long for the wise cracks to appear . . .

    Mexico Home Insurance

Okay, but word of mouth along with years of acquaintance, advice and unsolicited help heavily enter into the equation.

    Mexico Home Insurance

    Uh oh . . . why?

    Mexico Home Insurance

Here is a reliable, trustworthy insurer (been with her for many years): Yolanda Silva-Guzman, Agente de Seguros: 638-383-6280. Office near Al Capone's south of Freemont.

Animal Certificates of Health at Border

Well I guess it won't hurt to give it a try next time (with "Plan B" documentation in back pocket).

    Vegan?

I've eaten at Capones and many pizza places. "Hold the cheese." And my comment in an earlier thread mentioned Casa del Capitan, which happens to serve non-lard beans / rice / tortillas. I suppose there might be other such places in town. I believe Friendly Dolphin offers that as well...

Animal Certificates of Health at Border

Now THAT'S a first! I can't imagine why my having a Mexican residence / permenante or whatever would convince them that my dogs are any healthier or up to date on inoculation than other dogs.

    Payments to RE Agent

Yes. We bought out partners a couple years ago. So, for instance ABC LLC in Arizona had 4 names (partners) attached to it. We filed the standard LLC name-change documentation in Arizona to remove 2 names, obtained apostiled copy, sent it to the bank-trust bank in Mexico (admittedly, with the...

Saying hello, and asking my gringolandia questions now that I am moving to Rocky Point

You can certainly start with fresh-made corn tortillas that the Tortilla factory sells. Tortilleria building is on west side of Dominguez just north of Casa Hogar and whatever the adjacent side street is. Big warehouse-type building with a little shop next door. Often the shop has a fresh...

    Payments to RE Agent

I changed names on an AZ LLC-owned bank trust in Mexico by filing the necessary changes through the AZ Corporation Commission, and then with the Mexican bank (by forwarding apostiled documentation from Arizona), who responded with an acknowledgement document.

Saying hello, and asking my gringolandia questions now that I am moving to Rocky Point

Appreciate the tip. It is a task to pick out vegetarian-friendly places, and Mickey's has been on my need-to-check-out list anyway.

Saying hello, and asking my gringolandia questions now that I am moving to Rocky Point

I'm a part-time resident. But off hand, one of the lessons learned: If they tell you it'll take a year to build, double it.

Saying hello, and asking my gringolandia questions now that I am moving to Rocky Point

Yep – There are food restrictions at the border. Go to RockyPoint360.com and look under “Travel” to learn more. As far as being vegan and living in Penasco, let’s just say a good survival project might be to start gathering your own recipes! I’ve been vegetarian 30 years (vegan the last 10...

Saying hello, and asking my gringolandia questions now that I am moving to Rocky Point

I'm vegan as well, and have spent many days over many years in Penasco. Casa Del Capitan is one of the restaurants that will serve refried beans, rice, tortillas that don't contain lard or other animal products. (My favorite order there is pico de gallo, beans, rice, corn tortillas . . . maybe...

Things to do in August in Rocky Point

Yeah -- couldn't believe it when, about a week ago -- we looked down on the Malecon from El Capitan . . . . not a parking spot in sight. Vina del Mar was busy as well.

Things to do in August in Rocky Point

I'm not going to say a thing about how some of the best times in Penasco have been in August . . . about how I read indoors during they day, and put toes in the water and enjoy the breeze and liquid refreshment late in the day. Few people have discovered what an empty beach at sunset or a...

Animal Certificates of Health at Border

By "certificate of health" I was referring to the "Official Small Animal Health Certificate" as the one I used at the border. Did not present Form 7001 to my vet. I simply -- based on what I've heard from others -- have been renewing the Small Animal Health Certificate every 6 months. Since...
