    Toy friendly neighborhoods

And aside from the noise, it's also not so bad to retain a pristine beach -- turtle-friendly, toddler-friendly, heron-friendly, fresh-air friendly -- that isn't torn up by tire ruts. . .

The Elephant in the Room...THE WALL

Oh well -- It's their tourism industry to build or destroy.

The Elephant in the Room...THE WALL

Ha! (I guess I don’t take kindly to the suggestion that – due to reinstatement / re-enforcement of US border law – I, as a law-abiding, residency-compliant Permanente in Mexico might be “hassled.")

The Elephant in the Room...THE WALL

I hope we folks continue to enjoy our spots as well, since many of us paid big bucks to local contractors to make those spots, continue to employ local service industries to maintain and repair those spots, pay annual taxes to keep those spots, and spend lots of bucks for dining and...

Coupons can be found in Rocky Pont Times. And Casa Del Capitan usually has a supply of RPT at the door (some with coupons already cut out).

    Best Restaurants

I'm with Buffalo and Landshark. They can easily accommodate a large group, and in this weather, it doesn't get much better than sitting outside, overlooking the sea from the best vantage point in town. (They have good food, including the best margaritas -- but if you're a group of foodies...

    Quick trip.

Have noticed, though, that a camera (for plates, maybe?) is mounted at least at one of the checkpoints.

Bingo. I think that's why many people don't respond and in fact have left . . . .

    Rain & roofing

Interesting idea for the scupper -- we've been having scupper-to-wall problems as well. (Did a test, applying a "splotch" of silicone over a couple cracks in the roof coating. That was 5 years ago, and it is still good.)

    Rain & roofing

Have been considering silicone for roof for years. Did it work for you? Where did you get it? Cost? Paintable?

CEDO (and gift shop): Take road to Las Conchas, continue east past guard gate until you see whale skeleton on hill top. Follow signs to parking lot.

border crossing - anything new since last year?

Yeah, "fine" is code for "We've been told to make returning the The States miserable -- one way or the other -- for the noncompliant."

Animal Certificates of Health at Border

Naw -- I'm glad to say I'm from there, too.

Animal Certificates of Health at Border

I personally hate to risk fraud penalties from either side of the border, and simply get the "Official Small Animal Health Certificate" every 6 months from my vet. Despite that it displays no expiration, rumor has it that they are recognized at the border for 6 months, and -- having put it to...

    Police station and emergency numbers

Um . . . if you want to pay the fine to a dirty cop who encourages that, it too would be illegal . . . and perpetuates that kind of corruption . . . and encourages them to victimize tourists. Simply ask the cop to direct you to the station, which will be marked as a police station.

Driving at night in Rocky Point

We've had a place out that way for 20 years. Never had a problem at night.

    Vigilantes strike in Penasco

I admit that when my northerly friends -- with wide-eyed concern -- ask, "But aren't you afraid to travel down there?" I tell them, "Why yes. Be afraid -- very afraid." Then I head south and enjoy a pristine beach. Selfish, I know . .
