Hwy 5 south of San Felipe/Puertocitos paved?

Lol! Ice would be worth its weight in gold out in the middle of nowheres where those guys are. Had similar experiences at the military checkpoint north of El Golfo enroute back to Yuma. A few months ago one guy kept pointing to one of my coolers, finally asked me how much it costed, then asked...

Hwy 5 south of San Felipe/Puertocitos paved?

Russ, I talked to a guy today and he said he had a buddy who just took the road from Puertocitos to Chapala and he said it is paved all the way. Its hard to trust third-hand information. You stated its not paved over the mountains, but I'm wondering if they paved it now? You mentioned you're...

Hwy 5 south of San Felipe/Puertocitos paved?

Thanks Russ. When coming back up the Baja on Harleys was hoping to turn off onto Hwy #5 at Chapala and come up through Puertocitos and San Felipe but if the road isn't paved then that's not an option. Appreciate your info.

Hwy 5 south of San Felipe/Puertocitos paved?

Last time I travelled the road south of Puertocitos was about 15 years ago and the road was not paved. Does anyone know if Hwy #5 south of Puertocitos/San Felipe is paved all the way south to Chapala? We're doing a road trip on Harleys shortly and wondering if we could take this road. Tried to...

BORDER CROSSING QUESTION - Lukeville vs. San Luis?

If you want the fastest route from Quartzite to Puerto Penasco then in my opinion San Luis is the way to go. The toll highway from San Luis to Puerto Penasco is good, I've travelled it a zillion times and have never had a problem. Sounds like you've been through Lukeville before, going through...

Couple of questions on Surf and Kayak Fishing by the Mayan

Once last year in spring I went to the Municipal building to buy fishing licenses for the guys I brought down fishing and they didn't have any. Been back a couple times since and they've had em. For the last few years the website to buy Mexican fishing licenses has been down.

BORDER CROSSING QUESTION - Lukeville vs. San Luis?

I live in Yuma and travel from Yuma to PP via San Luis all the time. Usually there's no wait crossing into San Luis, unless you cross on a Friday afternoon/evening, then you can expect a 30-60 minute wait getting in. Expect a wait from 30 minutes to 2 hours crossing back into the US through San...

    My Mom's pretty tough.

I always laugh to myself when I ask guys from work to come fishing to Rocky Point and they refuse because they're scared of Mexico, going out on a boat, etc. My 84 year old Mom flew down to Yuma to come visit me for awhile and the first words out of her mouth when she got here is she wanted me...

LUMBR & HRDW STORE ADDED to P of Int. map

About a month ago I met up with Bill (Woodspinner) and we went out fishing on my boat for a couple days. He's 75 years old, my buddy and I went out with him and we're 25 years younger than Bill. He spent the night out on the boat with us, kicked our butts, I truly have a lot of respect for him...

    Fishing report Nov 9th.

Will let you know the next time we're going out Woodspinner, that was a good time. And you're absolutely right Stuart, this was the first time we caught bigger sharks worth keeping, so easy to catch and clean, boneless, was really surprised how good they tasted !

    Fishing report Nov 9th.

Am sure you're right Loudmusic, I don't know a lot about sharks and the guy I was fishing with thought they were threshers and I had no clue. I just looked up images of blacktip sharks and they definitely do look like them. Thanks for the clarification.

    Fishing report Nov 9th.

Went out fishing with Bill (Woodspinner) and a buddy last couple of days. Went out to 50 and 30 mile markers but rougher than expected. Bill showed us how to fish, pulled in a flounder, some red snappers, miscellaneous fish, and we tied into a herd of (thresher?) sharks. Cooked up shark steak...

    Luxury Vehicle and safety question.....

I live in Yuma and drive to Rocky Point about once a month. I can't speak for the route from Riverside to Yuma. From Yuma its about 1/2 hour to get to San Luis, where you cross into Mexico. One thing that may be a factor is don't cross into Mexico at the San Luis port of entry on a Friday...
