Windfinder was way out in left field, supposed to be calm but ran into winds and 2-3 foot waves, not what we expected. Trolled the Caballo area for Dorado but too windy and wavy to see em, coming...

We were bottom fishing (170 ft deep) in the Caballo area which is about 25 miles south/southeast of Rocky Point and about 10 miles west of Bird Island. That's when we noticed schools of Dorado swimming by (top water) and switched over to trolling for them with bright feathers and bright Rapalas...

Found some schools of Dorado 25 miles south of Rocky Point. Trolled with bright feathers and large bright Rapalas. Gotta be one of the most exciting fish to reel in with their aerial acrobatics.

As per your usual, nice catch Shawno! Was gonna head down this Wednesday to Sunday but with no fresh water at the marina doubt will go if I can't flush my engine afterwards, wash the trailer, boat, etc. Doubt Whale Hill has water either. Local people need the water more than I do for my boat...

Can't beat a GPS. An inexpensive hand held, or even get a free app on your smartphone. I'm wrong at least 50% of the time, the GPS is always right. Puts you on the exact mark every time.

Thanks for posting about the Playa de Cortes hotel, nice to hear about people's warm memories and current good times. I haven't been to Guaymas yet and been wanting to go, and to get the opportunity to stay in an 86 year old hotel with beautiful views is the bait I needed. Thanks for sharing.

I bought a new 2015 Ford 250 6.2 L diesel at the Ford dealer in Yuma last year, and asked the service desk if it was OK to use the diesel in Mexico. They said, off the record, it was no problem if I ran an odd tank here...

Have a 2015 Ford 250 Diesel (recommend low sulfur diesel) and have filled up many up a times in Rocky Point and have never had problems.

Unfortunately they changed the weather at the last minute and never ended up going Bill. Next time. Hope you're doing well, am jealous of your RV spot.
