About $10-15 million dollars shorter than it should be,:D

I just want to fish off of it, hell they could charge $1.00 per day and make some money but I guess their is the safety factor with rocks shifting.

They would have to charge $5 for all the extra hands that would want their slice of the action.
But a great idea, Hill Boy.
They could also put a restaurant at the end to really upscale it and make it a must see destination in RP.

Why wait? There is a ship that has been sailing the sea of Cortez departing Rocky Point for years. I took this boat from Rocky Point to San Jose del Cabo two years ago.

I remember your post from a few years back, Think that runs about 5k and you have to fly back from SJ del Cabo, not interested in scuba diving, I have a question for you azdan, wonder if you can recall, There was another sister ship being built with this one for Gus Brown back in say 97ish, Do you know if that ship is still around?

When I went it cost about $2,800. Now they are sold out through 2016, it appears to be a very popular trip. This boat was built 2006 - 2007 and launched in 2008. Dora and Lolo have another boat they are working on now in the ship yard.

This sh1t is about as funny as American politics. Recumbent delegates with the lowest approval rating in American history, least productive Congress since my Johnson ran for office. What a joke! Voted right back in! Lmao I love how these hacks keep giving us conceptual drawings. This thing is such a joke. I like Dog but this is a joke.

Looking at Alaska air today and saw a guy can get a direct flight to cabo one way for 199 bucks...
We need our airport to get going, clean up the dump and just maybe fix the potholes on the existing road as I see no sign the coastal highway construction is headed north from the checkpoint by the mine...stalled....

too bad Alaska doesn't fly non-stop from PHX to SJD (Cabo) - USAirways has the only non-stop flights from PHX and those flights run 700+/RT, which is hard to accept, but we still pay it.

A better idea down south...

Garyd -
they do fly to SJD - but no non-stops from PHX. you need to stop in Cali and change planes. to save $150/ea RT it's just not worth adding between 4 to 7 hours each way to what is less than 2 hours flight time from PHX.

Jerry - there's VERY little chance I'll be travelling to PV or Nuevo anytime in the future - just doesn't interest me at all. Maybe a flight to Loreto and do some exploring on that part of baja - use as a base for trips to Mulege and Bahia Concepcion, that sounds great. Better yet, I'd like to get a small group of RV's together for a month of exploring baja - that would be way more to my liking :)

Best part about that article was the author boasting about the "success" of the airport. If this project follows the same path we'll have all be staring at an empty pier for the next 7+ years...

Not sure I follow you on that. The airport is pretty darn nice. Paid a visit a couple years ago. Of course the problem is there is no traffic (!) but from the standpoint of completed construction, it is up and ready.

Well, I think his point was kinda like if someone opened a brothel loaded with beautiful young ladies in Green Valley.

They're there, looking great but no business. Sad but true.

Yeah it's definitely nice, but I was referring to the fact that it's never used. As a few of us on here have mentioned, RP needs major infrastructure work before throwing all this money at exotic projects like cruise terminals, airports, etc. If you build a nice, clean town that is safe and easy to get around, the rest will follow on it's own.
mis2810
We drove out to Playa Encanto the other day. The road to the airport is pretty beat up. We were saying how bad it would look if people were to fly in and go on their "cruise" and have to take that road out to the port or to their condo. Just doesn't make sense at all.
Terry C
That road has been a mess for a long time. They fill the pot holes from a wheel barrow and pack it with a shovel. The big trucks then tear it up again. I heard it's a fight between federal and state who is responsible for fixing it.

Naysayers are distinguished by their tendency to consistently view the glass half empty, make frequent one-way trips to negative town, and constantly emphasize the worst of a situation. They have the capacity to rant and whine for hours on end about the most insignificant inconveniences. As you can see most of these people that gave a like don't live here, Try driving down south and see how nice it is.

And I'll bet "most" of the people that gave a like have years more experience in PP than you. About 56 here.

Coastal Highway south is stopped in it's tracks too. They also don't have a clue how to build the concrete Boulder replacements......The fact that the large ships will not be able to safely come up this far in the Summer months will also be a problem....wait a minute...they are not coming anyways. This is a sort of bribe to area bigwigs so they back the really big port project in Guaymas.
Wood Spinner
We were out there on 12-6-14 and saw no new work or any trrucks etc. I sure hope the pier does make it.
I fished on my jet ski off the jettie and caught nothing. May have been an off day for the area

Jerry, I'm betting the port is finished before the road from Sasabe to Altar!

When we were down mid November we stopped in at Wrecked during the day and asked about the construction. The word from the management was that a contractor bailed with x amount of dollars and they were getting new investors involved and trying to find another contractor.

I don't know enough about anything down there to believe anything but it seems to be the way all the building goes down there.

I found it very impressive how fast they got the wind turbine up though.
