We live beachfront 20 miles east, and unless my plants have pooled water, I don't have a mosquito problem. And my husband says I'm a mosquito magnet, so I understand about Caladryl!

I haven't hiked to the top of Pinacate (we let our daughter do that), but when hiking in Pinacate, I've never experienced such silence.

I agree Roberto about the Malecon, we love going for dinner (Blue Marlin Grilled Tacos w/ Green Sauce), then get an ice cream from Thrifty and walk along the Malecon. It's beautiful watching the families, listening to music, and looking at the sunset. Love Old Port!

Wow, MexicoJoe, I thought last weekend was much nicer than 2 weeks earlier- no where near as humid and the low temp was 68 degrees. Leave the windows and doors open- perfect at night.

This US border checkpoint has been going on for several years. But recently, there seems to be more of a bottleneck. They're trying anyway possible to discourage people from going to Penasco.

Road to Miramar had a detour last weekend. About a mile off the Caborca highway, there is a detour by Mayan Lakes (you can see that on picture #5 in the distance before the Mayan Lakes/Central Park, you turn east, wind around over the estuary bridge, then we make a right turn towards Luna...

I agree Disneynut- but I thought it was ridiculous last weekend! I'm really concerned about Columbus Day weekend.

Yes, the wait was leaving the U.S.- one lane open going south. We also got a red light going into Mexico- they asked for car registration, and dog papers, but it only took a few minutes vs. 45 trying to leave the US.

Last weekend was ridiculous- there was no one coming down, and I joked w/ my husband that we'll probably have a 30 minute wait. Sure enough, about 30 cars at the border, and a 45 minute wait.
