Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

I thought there was only 1 person/car or did they expand that rule?

    Satisfied Frog shutting down

Sonoyta opened a couple of weeks ago. The Satisfied Frog was a great member of the community, and sorry to see them go.

    Satisfied Frog shutting down

Sorry if I'm a bit jaded, but the damage for 5 people getting sick in Penasco is too high. More businesses are going to die from covid than people. Penasco should have opened last week with safety measures and kept people over 65 quarantined...

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

Actually, the Sonoyta cops have behaved quite well after the first week of lockdown, where they seemed to have been asking for money which we didn't give them. We haven't been stopped, and since we keep our speed at 24mph or less, haven't been pulled over for speeding.

Where to mingle and meet others during lockdown?

We do both Joan! I think we can all learn from each other where are the good places to eat, and where's a good place to buy groceries. There are many of us who have been posting on this forum for over 20 years, and I love hearing all voices about Penasco (not politics, not opinions if I should...

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

Audsley, we've never been asked to show our permanent resident card when entering Mexico. We're planning on leaving (depends on work) in a few hours so I'll let you know what happens crossing the border and leaving Sonoyta to Miramar.

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

We didn't have any trouble last Friday getting into Mexico. We're going tomorrow and if there's a problem I'll post here. Just remember the border closes at 8. I know it was posted here previously, but we forgot and spent a lovely night at a motel in Ajo!

They think the virus is the fault of the US visitors

We just crossed the border going back to Tucson. Sonoyta is open, no more checkpoints. The cops were at the Red Cross station, watching for speeding. At the border, we didn't need gloves or to wipe down our passport cards, and no problem crossing back into the states (no problem going down either.)

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

Audsley, last week my husband couldn't get into town with a face mask, permanent resident card and utility bill. Also, be careful about asking on this forum about how to get into the safe zone (even though there are a lot of workers going in and out from Sonoyta and other places). You'll be...

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

How many cases have there been in Penasco? I think I read there have been 2 but just checking. I don't believe Americans are going to rush to Mexico after this complete shutdown and might think about whether to invest here after being locked out of their properties.

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

Roberto- they are letting people into Penasco through the main checkpoint from outside of the area. We weren't trying to sneak in. On our way back to Tucson on Sunday afternoon, when we left Penasco, we saw a truck full of workers who drove to Sonoyta. And by the way, they didn't have face...

Yes, but you have traveled around Penasco, possibly being infected or spreading the infection.

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

Roberto, there's a higher probability you'll spread the virus by going to town than us sitting in our house, not interacting with anyone. I saw 2 people today and they were about a quarter of a mile away.

Yes dirt, you miss the checkpoint. If you want to get to Encanto or town, there's a checkpoint right after you make the turn to go to Penasco going west.

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

We don't have to go through that- checkpoint because we turn at the Caborca highway,so Miramar and Dorada homeowners can get to their homes. That is the only checkpoint to get to town or to LC or Encanto
