    Insulated Concrete Forms

ICF construction is worth the investment if you intend to hold on to the structure. In my experience in Phoenix most investors want to utilize the least expensive and easiest to build construction technique because the project is usually sold shortly after it is built. If one does venture into...

Down in the Yucatan three wheeled jitneys powered by a single street bike were the norm. In some smaller towns the three-wheelers made up 75% of the traffic, if not more.

what beach allows trucks to enter?

My beach gets clogged with refuse tossed overboard from the shrimpers. Diesel filters, old gas cans, trash…everything. Also, there is a new spot alongside the road about 6 miles out of Penasco on the Caborca road that has become a large landfill. Not very easy on the eyes!

    Hempcrete

J: I have been wanting to build a large monolithic dome for a long time, just haven't found the right client for the application. You may one day in Santo Tomas see a monolithic dome built with basalt-fiber rebar. I have toured huge monolithic domes being utilized as churches or warehouses. The...

    Architects

Be aware of rusty rebar used in construction. Rusty rebar continues to rust and expand in concrete and walls. This causes major damage. Avoiding rusty rebar in a coastal area is difficult to say the least but worth the effort. I have been rebuilding concrete walks & decks, parapet walls and...

    Hempcrete

If you research a little there are a lot of alternative concrete products. The Hempcrete is a good idea and is akin to adding straw to mud to make adobe. I work with a lot of rammed earth houses which is a technique utilized for a thousand years and being refined all of the time. What I would...

Soon for sale in Mexico Hero Rtd

I like the Hero diesel scooter concept. For a utility bike it should catch on fast in Mexico. The hero bike is darn heavy, most likely due to its diesel motor with generator set up, in comparison, my dirt bike weighs in at about a hundred pounds less and makes almost 40 more horsepower--which...

    Chicago VS Mexico

I sent this message to my Mexico fearing friends. Chicago has a murder rate from gun wounds worse than most third world countries (and it has very strict gun laws) while in Mexico if one person gets hurt it makes national headlines. Most of my Mexico fearing friends will not even grasp that they...

Why so much opposition to Tohono O'odham casino?

From what I can tell the tribes do not pay any taxes from casino revenue. I know for sure that if Glendale could develop an income stream of any kind from the casino the city would jump for joy and support it. It seems so counter productive to spend thousands- most likely hundreds of thousands...

    New Wind Turbine in Town

If you saw the diesel fired electrical plant in Puerto Libertad and the billowing black smoke from it you might feel as I do: the diesel pollution probably kills off and makes more organisms sick than a wind turbine does. In general it is pretty darn hard to mass produce enough electricity to...

Why so much opposition to Tohono O'odham casino?

K: how does the state lose money to a casino? I have no clue but always assumed that the casinos paid some kind of tax to someone. Glendale has done nothing but hemorrhage money with their sports ventures so I was thinking that a casino might pay taxes and help their bureaucacy.

http://www.azfamily.com/home/DOI-reaffirms-decision-in-favor-of-Arizona-tribe-265777151.html I need help to understand why almost every government entity and several tribes have continually sued to prevent this casino proposed for Glendale. I understand that tribes are trying to prevent...

Build Your Own electric dune buggy

My buddy has the high end version and the stated range is just under 200 miles. I don't think my friend ever goes more than about 150 miles without a charge but drives to Flagstaff from Phoenix once in a while. Tesla has free quick charge stations around the country with about a half a dozen...
