No dorado in the freezer... but we had some fresh cooked last night! Very yummy!!!

Our first 2 billfish ignored all the baits and went directly for my lures -- the pesoleros. These are a lure that looks like a petrolero, but has polished Mexican pesos for the eyes. I left one with our "other" Mexican capitan because he knew it was the bomb! I've got some pix... somewhere. :cluck:

Tourism was good for the weekend. A lot of Mexican tourists, but a fair amount of gringos diving and in town for the tourney. Drive is about 7-8 hours from Tempe. No, didn't use new highway. Too much out of the the way. But the desert was greener than we've ever seen it right now. Amazing...

If driving, go back up to Sonoita, take 2 south to Santa Ana, that will intersect with Mex 15 going south to Hermosillo. Better roads, for sure and probably faster than going the Caborca route, but I haven't gone through Caborca, so can't say for sure. Either way, you have to go through...

That mako looks 6 ft. min. There are smaller sand sharks and such around, but pose no threat at all. I saw babies from small sand sharks they were cleaning in Lobos that were 6" to 8".

I've seen some folks down on Baja that had this device. It was pretty cool, but is just for casual snorkeling, not diving down deeper for clams and such.

That mako would have brought a fine price at the fish market! I'm surprised they didn't try to tail rope it.
