    $80,000 fish caught

Sushi? Shame they aren't in the Sea of Cortez. Guess I'll have to continue catching and selling 250 lb. totuava on the black market to make a living! :lobster: On an added note, Mitsubishi has been buying and cryogenic freezing blue fin tuna for some time now. They are banking on the day they...

    Back from San Carlos

Our first 2 billfish ignored all the baits and went directly for my lures -- the pesoleros. These are a lure that looks like a petrolero, but has polished Mexican pesos for the eyes. I left one with our "other" Mexican capitan because he knew it was the bomb! I've got some pix... somewhere. :cluck:

    Back from San Carlos

Tourism was good for the weekend. A lot of Mexican tourists, but a fair amount of gringos diving and in town for the tourney. Drive is about 7-8 hours from Tempe. No, didn't use new highway. Too much out of the the way. But the desert was greener than we've ever seen it right now. Amazing...

    Back from San Carlos

Fished the Labor Day Billfish tourney in San Carlos. We tied for fourth, but could have been tied for second if we hadn't had 4 fish come unbuckled on the last day... aye, aye, aye... it was a GREAT time! Will try to post details and some pix of the fishies tomorrow. I love San Carlos, but wish...

    Sononyta speed trap

Indeed. 40k max throughout Sonoita, much less in marked crossings and such. Your SIL was a lucky boy! :puff:

    Politics and narco business history.

Indeed. This, and things like Fast and Furious, are just swept under the carpet. WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE? Where are the congressional investigations? Why aren't there heads rolling (figuratively)? No way in hell you can convince me that this and Fast Furious didn't have approval very high up in the...

    Man Die's Clam Diving

Agree, Russ... terribly sad. Especially when it is so preventable.

    New Coastal Highway. Reprint

On the road to Lobos... yes the sand dunes. But they don't replace the signs that are knocked down by planes landing on this beautiful new airstrip for drug smuggling, either. Just sayin...

    San Carlos Weekend

If driving, go back up to Sonoita, take 2 south to Santa Ana, that will intersect with Mex 15 going south to Hermosillo. Better roads, for sure and probably faster than going the Caborca route, but I haven't gone through Caborca, so can't say for sure. Either way, you have to go through...

    Companies Investing in Penasco

That is interesting, but I agree with Jerry... sounds kind of like a perpetual motion machine! If they have the technology to pull it off, that's great for both the industry and for Penasco.

    Man Die's Clam Diving

Sadder even yet; the harbormaster offering instruction on safety and dive times to these guys and they cop a macho "You can't tell me, I've been doing this for years!" attitude? Good grief, more are bound to die.

Dolphin and .... Da Da....Da Da...

That mako looks 6 ft. min. There are smaller sand sharks and such around, but pose no threat at all. I saw babies from small sand sharks they were cleaning in Lobos that were 6" to 8".

    Intro Hooka Diving!

I've seen some folks down on Baja that had this device. It was pretty cool, but is just for casual snorkeling, not diving down deeper for clams and such.

Dolphin and .... Da Da....Da Da...

That mako would have brought a fine price at the fish market! I'm surprised they didn't try to tail rope it.
