    Green (Algae) Tide Pools

The other day we discovered the tide pools in front of Bella Sirena (Sandy Beach) were green - from a distance they almost looked like they were covered with grass. Does anyone know what caused the algae to grow almost over night - does it stay around? These tide pools never seem to have...

    Donald Trump, Jr.

Just read where Donald Trump, Jr was in town looking things over. Seems like if the Trumps are interested that the cruise port might just happen, along with an expanding economy - and a commercial flight in from Phoenix. Noticed he also was talking about doing low income housing, etc. Looking...

    The Thirsty Parrot

Sounds like a great idea to close Malecon to vehicles - with good off site parking. How much are people paying per pound for the big Blues? Are the big Browns about equal?

    Paying CFE electric bill

Yesterday I went into Bancomar with a copy of our CEF bill and account number - they filled out a form for me for an automatic payment for our electric bill from our peso account. They said it could be a payment cycle or two before it was in effect and to check our bill - that it would indicate...

    Paying CFE electric bill

How do you set up for auto deduct? We just opened a peso account. We are down here full time. Trying to learn some Spanish (DH is trying to remember his 3 years of college Spanish) - but when in 70's it just doesn't want to stick all that well (well, probably the same in my 20's too).

Old Playa Hermosa Hotel & Hector's Cantina

One time a few of the guys, after partying all day, decided to ride their dune buggies up and down the stairs. There was a VERY proper German gentleman who was visiting, and being highly disapproving of everything and everyone until Uncle Roberto provided him with his first Maragarita. He then...

Old Playa Hermosa Hotel & Hector's Cantina

It was Hector's from at least the sixties into early 70's. Miguel and Chewy were the bartenders and Hector owned it (think he rented the space from the owners of the Playa Hermosa) - sometime during that period Hector also opened a bar in the Old Port. In the summer we would take a dip, put on...

Old Playa Hermosa Hotel & Hector's Cantina

Does anyone remember the Old Playa Hermosa Hotel? Have wonderful memories of it as well as Hector's Cantina which was part of it - and the fantastic beach - laying on rubber rafts and drinking Bloody Marys or sipping on a cold Corona. Ah, those were the days ....

    Ramon's

I had pollo mole and it was great. DH had chile Rellenos and was disappointed - chile's were hard so he didn't eat much. People at table next to us had something that looked good - not sure what it was. Very clean and colorful.

    Mar Blu

We have eaten at Mare Blu three times and it was excellent - staff was great and place charming and clean. All of our dinners were great. Our friend, Jack, is a fan of carpaccio and he decared it the best he had had. My husband especially loves their bread. We will continue going there and...
