    Started work on Walmart today

Went by the Bodega Aurrera site yesterday (Jan 25) and were amazed at how much was done just from a few days ago. Walls up (and some looked like they might be painted) and there were some workers on the roof. Looked like an April opening date might be a possibility. Of course "boxes" aren't as...

What are *your* top 5 fav restaurants, taco stands, grub joints in RP!

Where has La Cita now located? We used to go there everytime we were down here (well, in the 40's/50's etc. there weren't a whole lot of places to go). They had the most wonderful shrimp coctails - twenty-five cents and you got an old milk shake sized glass full of the big blues fresh off the...

    My beloved forum friends

Great news on the no more smoking. My DH gave it up years ago and was the best thing he could have done for his health (besides moving to Penasco lol). Hope you are feeling much better. Salt air is a wonderful cure.

My parents had a trailer with a BIG screened in porch (where we all slept) on the south side of the Playa Hermosa (as you looked at the Playa Hermosa from the beach it would have been on the right). There were 6 trailers parked there full time - all six families were very close and most had...

At Hector's cantina (at the Playa Hermosa) we used to play dominos with the kids in the day time as it was a little cooler there - or on the covered patio. My mother's Siamese cat, Baby Cat, used to lay on the bar. Migel & Chewy (bartenders) used to keep the cerveza flowing (Corona). I learned...

We loved looking at the pictures - anyone else have pictures of Penasco long ago? Or stories of what went on in those days of yore?

We used to go crabbing and clamming at Choya Bay when no one else was there (of course always got stuck in the sand a time or two). When we first came there was basically just the old port and the Rocky Hotel. By the early 60's we were camping (and staying at) the Playa Hermosa - the beach...

These pictures were actually taken in Feb of 1950. We had been coming down here to camp and fish since 1948 - this was the first time my Aunt & Uncle (from Evanston IL) came down and they were really nervous about the trip - ended up loving it.

DH drinks Padre Kino - costs about $4.50/$5.50 and he said it isn't bad at all (my nose turns like Rudolph's if I drink wine). He has gotten it at Super Ley and Santa Fe Express.

Just have a couple of them (probably more in the old family photos the kids now have) - one of my Mom with a fish - one of my parents packing the trunk of the car and a picture of our camp (think it was probably either Choya Bay or Sandy Beach - there weren't many people around to say the...

My DH is 77 and I'm 70 - we moved down full time end of Sept (my family has been coming down since 1848) - We've driven back and forth to the States a couple of times - once at night although that wasn't a good idea as there were a lot of animals on the road. The guards on both sides of the...

    Las Palomas update?

Has anyone heard any updates on Las Palomas? We heard one rumor that something is happening within the next week or so - financially. Have a friend who put a lot of money down a few years ago and has been in limbo since then.

    Dentist - Teeth Cleaning

Does anyone know a good dentist? About time for teeth cleaning - rats. How much does it normally cost? Do they have pretty up to date equipment? I'm a major coward where dentists are concerned. Any suggestions appreciated.

Puerto Penasco, Sonora, Mx ... Ghost Town

Does anyone know when the Bodega Aurrera is scheduled to be completed? A few weeks ago we noticed ground breaking and then a few days ago noticed what looked like the start of walls going up. Know they can do the big boxes pretty fast. Has anyone ever shopped at a Bodega Aurrera? Will be...

    Donald Trump, Jr.

Actually I think Penasco has a lot of things going for it for an investor like Trump. There is already in place a plan for the cruise port. It is really easy to access from AZ, CA and NM - and if they get a commercial flight in from Sky Harbor it would be an easy hop from any location...
