    Driving to Hermosillo from Penasco

Anyone driven to Hermosillo lately? Are there any ID's needed at the check points like a Passport to drive from Penasco to Hermosillo? My son is planning on a trip to Hermosillo starting at Penasco, but his passport has expired. Is a car permit required these days? How is the road? Thx

    Pacifico bottles at modelorama?

Just joking about drinking 6-8 beers in the sun, it's been a few years since I've had that many. I usually have a glass of ice with a beer to keep it cold and hydrate. LOL

Can I get in and out without a Passport??

Passport, Passport card, even a expired one all accepted at Lukeville and Nogales. Birth Cert and drivers license will also get you back into the US at these 2 stations with a few minute delay to verify your ID. So nothing has changed in 5 years.

The Police in Sonoita are out of control!

The day's of a $20 bill taking care of the alleged infraction are long gone. Today's payoff asking prices start at $80. Typically $100-$140, but sometimes they will negotiate for what's in your wallet if less than their asking price. I wish Sonoyta would just charge a $10 per car entry fee for...

    Pacifico bottles at modelorama?

You have to stay hydrated at the beach and drinking 6-8, 4.2% beers will do that with only a small buzz. I guess I just like my clean, crisp lite beers, I never took a liking to the IPA craze. I was told there was an Great IPA at Chilkoots tavern in Skagway Alaska. It was So Great, it...

    Border Wait Times

Fridays and Sundays have been busy for travel to and from Penasco since mid Feb. With the border closing at 8PM sharp there have been more than a few cars stuck unable to cross until 6AM the next day. Labor day Fri 2020 there was a 2 mile long line unable to cross when the gate was closed at...

    Pre-Semana Santa Getaway w/Newbs

Apparently it wasn't nearly as bad as a few years before. Competition hill was nearly as bad as before. My local Cholla friend saw many crazies on the road near the entrance to Cholla, the hill was covered with parked cars and the idiots too.

    Pacifico bottles at modelorama?

I have tried a few dozen IPA's over the last 5 years, I always come back to the 4.2-4.5%, Coor's lite, Molson's of the world. Castle Lite in South Africa is one of my favorites. Clean crisp and you can drink more than a few without regretting it the next day. I find myself actually liking...

The Police in Sonoita are out of control!

Yep, I have seen a couple of times where the women driving was ripping into the Sonoyta Police officer and they seemed to want no part of that. One time was with my wife along with me saying "No lo creo". (I don't think so) They let us go. But a few times I've seen a woman and guys giving $$...

    Pacifico bottles at modelorama?

There is a difference in taste between Coors light from the USA and what's sold in Mexico, just like Corona and Pacifico sold in the US and Mexico. Also you have to love the price right before Semana Santa when you can buy a 12 pack for about $5.

The Police in Sonoita are out of control!

We we're stopped going exactly 38kph, the Sonoyta cop showed us a radar gun with 57kph displayed. I laughed and said "No lo creo". I mentioned Mordida es malo, and No lo creo a few times and he let us go. They must have radar displays they can program or put on hold from somebody previously...

    Pacifico bottles at modelorama?

Finally Pacifico 12 oz in bottles availability is better, I found it in 2 different Modeloramas, 2 on the Cholla road near Benito Juarez and at the Ron Rico store in Cholla. All 3 had less than 12 bottles at each store. 2 different restaurants that serve it either had Pacifico Lite or other...

The Police in Sonoita are out of control!

We drove back today, entered Sonoyta at 3PM, we saw one police car on the east side of the road about 5 blocks from the border. Pretty quiet, absent were the usual group looking to wash your windows and the people on crutches and in wheel chairs looking for $$. There was an official Red cross...
