    Trip Report Oct 16th.

Thanks wave for these great reports! We are heading down Wednesday afternoon right when the cold front looks to be ending, weekend weather looks nice so far...

    Trip Report Oct 16th.

We went to Pane Vino for dinner, it was our 2nd time, food was very good, Pizza is good-very good, they now serve only Tecate crap which bummed me because last year they served Modelo and Pacifio products. Is Pane Vino the one that moved up on Whale Hill next to Casa De Capitan a few years ago...

    Pumpkins in RP?

Hey Gang! Anybody know if its possible to get Halloween pumpkins anywhere in RP? We're planning to come down next Wednesday or Thursday for the weekend and thought it would be fun to carve pumpkins with the kids. I assume it could be problematic to bring pumpkins across the border so wanted to...

    Now for the bad news

OMG... Just to clarify location, this happened on highway 3 somewhere between Mayan Palace and La Y Griega??? Were they heading N-NW toward Puerto Peñasco or S-SE toward Desemboque/Lobos? We live in Nogales and usually take a US-based route up through Tucson/Sells/Why/Lukeville, but we...

    Covid-19 is mutating again??

I have nothing against Fauci; I think he is a smart and decent man doing the best he can under dire circumstances. It was more to voice frustration over the "experts" not setting clear and realistic expectations to the public about the various covid protocols & precautions. If they DO find a...

    Covid-19 is mutating again??

Will all current and future "strains" be counteracted by the vaccine, or will a new vaccine "recipe" be required every time there is a new mutation? I can just imagine Fauci on TV in April 2021 pleading "we never said the vaccine would cover every strain", as the public groans in response to yet...

    Trip Report 9/18-9/22/2020

I cross the border daily and have a prominent Bills decal on the back of my truck. Over the years I have been shocked at how many customs agents are from Buffalo. I think many are building up seniority down south so they can eventually put in for a transfer back home. GO BILLS!!!

    Border Report (Saturday, Sep 12 2020, 10:20am)

Unfortunately no guac, but they did give us 2 kinds of of salsa (pico de gallo and a spicier red salsa) and corn tortillas. Its just a roadside stand so not at the same level of a sitdown place like Tule (for example Tule has the nice cast iron skillets for the pork to sizzle on wich is great...

    Border Report (Saturday, Sep 12 2020, 10:20am)

JayT had a great report from Friday that was almost identical to our experience, so I'll keep it short n' sweet. -hit Border at 10:20am, no US outgoing inspection/interview at all, just a line of ~20 vehicles waiting on the Mexico traffic-light revision; line moved slow but steady -did 10 mins...

    Border wait time

I wonder how the typical group of holiday travelers breaks down between long-time RP visitors, and newbies who have maybe gone just a hand full of times? The RP "lifers" know the border drill well and probably have been burned before- they are more likely to accept the good with the bad when it...

    Trip report Aug 8, 2020

Holy shit I just checked accuweather.com and it shows 104 temp with a humidity "real feel" of 116- in the shade!. Sounds f'n brutal.., We're headed down next weekend and staying for 10 days; we've been down in mid-September many times over the years and never really minded the weather. Sounds...

    Trip report Aug 8, 2020

Based on reports here yesterday, those lucky few who did make it across may have also had another long wait at the sanitary filter, right? A 1-2 hour wait to cross the the border, then another 1-2 hours at the covid filter? Good lord, that would be a nightmare. I hope the filter goes adios as...

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

That is a very interesting revelation you make about minors not being part of the testing- is the general public aware of that crucial fact? That would leave a huge part of the population un-vaccinated... For example, I wonder how that would impact school re-openings? If none of the students are...

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

I'm not even remotely an anti-vaxxer, quite the contrary, I have 2 young boys and follow their vaccine schedules to the letter. Having said that, I don't think it is crazy at all to be be skeptical about a vaccine that is is being rushed to market compared to anything that has been previously...

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

Early in the pandemic I read a very good article about the mathematical side of false positives and negatives. It made a very compelling argument against *random* testing precisely due to the prevalence of false results. Instead it recommended *targeted* testing of people either with symptoms or...

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

I agree, this part of border enforcement should rest 100% with Mexico. Since the "closure" was announced a few months back, the USA does not allow Mexico visitors across the border for tourism/shopping/etc; they can only cross for a handful of "essential" reasons (medical visit, schooling, etc)...

    Trip report Aug 8, 2020

Sorry, when i used "correctly" I should have clarified that it was the correct *colloquial* translation, not the the correct "literal* translation. If a Spanish speaking person wanted to say "calle nueve" in English the best colloquial translation would be "9th street", even though it is not the...

    Trip report Aug 8, 2020

Hey wave- I know Sonoyta wanted masks at all times inside vehicles, and they were definitely checking when we passed though. But I'm pretty sure Peñasco rescinded that requirement sometime in June. We were down for almost 2 weeks in mid-July and I never wore a mask inside the car, I only put it...
