An unexpected effect of the virus

Meh, I have a different take and it became obvious to me yesterday while shopping. With everyone wearing a mask, you can no longer see people smile. And while there will always be assholes, they are not the majority. Everyone wearing masks just makes it harder to tell the difference.

    Fishing withdrawal

I used to do that trail off of Usery Pass, Joe. Comes out on the backside of the Salt River. Not for the faint of heart, but a nice trip through the wilderness, for sure. I had an old International Scout, though. Thing was like a damn billy goat and could take those trails. Don't think I'd do...

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

Well...that's great if you charter, I suppose. Not so great for us private boaters. How much I gotta cough up for a manifest?

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

As far as I know, nope. Have not seen or heard of the port being reopened yet for any charters or tourist activity. It was my understanding that only commercial fishermen were being allowed out. Wouldn't mind social distancing myself at the 51 for awhile!

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

Locally, car dealerships and car washes are spraying the insides of vehicles, but nothing like that fog bank in the Tequila Factory. Just a few spritzes of disinfectant with AC running.

Going back across the border 5/14/2020

All my peeps are long gone, Joe. Over a year now. I don't know any of the current posters, other than the regs that have been here forever.

    Fishing withdrawal

As one who has fished Guaymas for many years, yep. It dead. Zero enforcement of the pangas and long lines is a joke there is none. Used to be able to go out and troll some nice Dorado and bill fish (released) for fun. Not so much anymore. Sold my boat, stopped going. Got tired of cutting...

    Fishing withdrawal

Well, as much as I'd like to agree with you on this enforced break having a positive impact for us worm drowners and squid dippers when lifted... it won't. But why, Stuart? Because only us recreational types are shut down. Business as usual for the pangas and commercial types. And they're the...

    To All...

Please stay on topic. If you can't and you absolutely have to go off on a political rant about whatever (or against another member), expect your posts to be deleted as spam, which also bans you from making any future posts. I (as well as other users) are tired of seeing every damn thread turn...

    About the beaches

Y'all need to take a chill pill, seriously. My suggestion to all at this point is that A) if you don't have anything relative to say, don't say it and B) learn to use the Ignore feature if you don't want to read another user's drivel. Kenny - Only using you as an example here, nothing personal...

What fishes did aboriginal residents of Puerto Penasco Sonora catch and consume??

I know that feeling. I used to fish freshwater. Hell, I'd go up to the Salt River and run it in my Scout; knew exactly where all the deep holes were from running it in the winter when they'd cut the flow off. Those holes were loaded with fat rainbow trout. Could limit out in a matter of a half...

What fishes did aboriginal residents of Puerto Penasco Sonora catch and consume??

Agree. Octopus are very naturally curious creatures. In Italy, they would walk around on the rocks using a mop or broomstick handle with a hook tied tightly to the end. They would put a piece of white plastic trash bag on the hook and just dip it down under the rocks and wiggle it every now and...

What fishes did aboriginal residents of Puerto Penasco Sonora catch and consume??

Pics please? Smoothhound (a common sand shark) Pacific Sharpnose Shark (haven't really caught one of these, but black-tip reef sharks are a very common catch) Gulf Grouper (large family of fish fit this category Serranidae) Ric Felder's (grouper slayer deluxe!) pic. Mullet - (bony...

    Same David Butterfield??

He didn't need no steenkin' seat belt. And given the time? I'm sure his blood alcohol level was right up there, not to mention whatever else he had going on. You may recall he got popped for DUI, cocaine and opioid pills in Ajo. As I posted in the other thread originally about him, the...
