Ok... Let's all get back on topic.
Competitive fishing.
Competition is part of our personal drive to succeed. It is natural.
Competitive practices that result in excessive dead fish is no different than exploitative long-lining that results in excessive dead fish.
Competitive fishing is not the problem - excessive dead fish is the problem. But, what is excessive? anything beyond the legal limits? anything more than 5 pounds per person per day?
There is no moral compulsion for anyone to dictate to you how many fish you are allowed to kill (within legal limits, of course)
Killing fish is not evil. Killing fish for PROFIT, however presents a moral challenge.
I would have a serious issue allowing myself to go on a boat with a crew that declared that they were going to kill any fish that I hooked and landed - they would not get my business.
I decide what happens to the fish I catch. No one else does.
If you want to profit from the marketing of fish, then start a fish farm- stop depleting wild stocks.
If you kill only what you KNOW will be consumed, and you are behaving within legal limits, then that is a sound personal choice - tell everyone else to buzz off.
