    Diesel

I've been getting it at the first Pemex as you come in to town....out by the airport. I also checked at the one on Fremont, by Reggie's, and they also indicated they had diesel last weekend.

    Quality Star

Apparently Arturo and the family were milking the place.....not paying the owner any money for quite some time, also not paying the taxes or doing any maintenance. The government came in, and closed the office....but the owner had gotten a new manager, and they were trying to run the place...

    Diesel

I just bought diesel last week when I got down to RP....and it was still 5.8x pesos per liter. Sounds like the border towns are charging more. When I asked at a couple of the stations here in RP, they all had diesel. The only problem I've had is getting some water in the fuel, and I've filled...

    Rocky Point Offroad Race

The "making money" part is a problem with any of these type of events. Before I got out of jetski racing a couple years ago, that was a common thread with the promoters, who weren't able to make ends meet either...unless they could get some heavy duty sponsorship/advertising $$ and get cable tv...

    Motel recommendation?

Dezracer...the last time I checked, Laos Mar was cheaper then the Playa Bonita Hotel, but still not cheap.....unless they've dropped their price lately.

    Rocky Point Offroad Race

Why did they shut down? Was it problems with getting racing fuel across the border? I remember when we had jetski races (endurance races) down there, many of the racers got hassled bringing racing fuel to RP.

    Wi Fi

Don't know about any of the places out that way....but Max's Cafe off Calle 13 has free wifi....and you can even use a computer inside. Black Dog also has a computer you can use to access email. Many of the places in town that had free wifi (or unprotected access) have locked it down.

    Palapas...

Thanks...are you talking about the raod at the first stop light coming in to town? I'll check it out the next time down.

    Palapas...

Does anyone know someone in RP that does palapas, or re-does them. My friend has one on her deck (umbrella type) that is bare. Needs to be "re-palmed". Thanks!

    Motel recommendation?

Check out the Playa Inn...it used to be part of the Best Western chain, or the motel next to the Bumaye Club. Also, Desert Oasis has expanded the hotel/motel section.

    Tourist visa in Sonoyta?

Check the info on this web page.... http://www.gotosonora.com/only-sonora.htm It appears that you don't need the vehicle permits, but you still need the Visa to visit those areas, although I wasn't asked for a Visa at the checkpoint south of Puerto Penasco when I drove down to Caborca.

    Eye Oponer!

Not really impressed by the town.....although the food was good (beef)....and there is a Chrysler (or Dodge) dealership there (always thinking...."parts"....since I couldn't find a wheel bearing when mine disintegrated in RP on a 1997 Ford F250 a couple of years ago)). There is an interesting...

    Buying Gas in Mexico

I've been bringing back "extra" diesel for quite some time (even before it was more then double back in AZ).....I've been hassled a couple of times....once had to wait while the Customs people contacted DPS about my "transporting" diesel in a 55 gallon racing fuel drum, since the DOT guy at the...

Should Happy be allowed on the forum?

I agree on both, Sub....but, I've seen a couple of posts where he did not use all CAPS....so it appears that it's just for attention, or being ornery from old age!!

Is buying a condo a good investment?

Every once in a while I used to overhear Californians talking about the 3rd or 4th condo they had just bought as an investment.....how the rentals would cover the payments. I wonder if they're hurting now?

    Passport card

Although they are less expensive, it takes just as long to get one, and they are not valid for air travel...... Boy, I just checked the web site.....and it looks like they raised the price of the regular passport....I got my daughter's last year, and I could swear that it was somewhere around $75!

Is buying a condo a good investment?

What you do have with the condos, in addition to the higher costs for the units on the beach, is the monthly maintenance fees. I had heard that they were as high as $400 per month at Las Palomas (this is from a realtor who was living there)....who was "whining" when she had a bit too much to...
