What sort of fishing rods are used while fishing in the ocean?

Yeah, what was up with that? Cops shooting a guy that was gonna jump off an overpass? I heard it on my commute in and it sound like a total cluster**** on that side of town!! I don't envy you at all. I spend too many days sitting on the 101 going nowhere in a hurry.

    Thefts at PDO

Yeah, some of the street urchin kids... geez. A couple trips ago, one approached my truck, asking for money for comida. I keep several bucks in loose change and pesos in my cup holder just for such things, like the Red Cross and such. So, I grabbed a handful of change and handed it to him. He...

    A must read!!1

The local crime beat, I take it? Why does Google seem to translate the word "bastard" as the description of many of these perps? Made me laugh! So... I gather from this: 1) Watch out for counterfeit 500 peso notes. 2) Don't buy fake tickets for boat rides from the "Smurf." 3) The criminals...

Popular guy! Front page of the AZ Republic Living section today, too, with an article about the release of Mexican Moonshine tequila. Great picture of Roger. Article here, but no pic online.

I had to PAY a little Morbida

The ol' Sonoita Revenue Enhancement Project strikes again. As many times as we've posted and talked about it, you'd think no one would get caught in it anymore. Guess not! They were there last week as well. I always make sure when I'm driving that I'm doing less than 40 clicks by the time I...

    Gas Prices a week ago

Didn't buy gas, but diesel was 9.09 liter in Sonoita last Sun. 9.09 x 3.78 = 34.36 pesos... exchange at about 11 to 1 right now... so roughly 3.12 USD per gallon.

    Flounder/Fluke/Flatfish

Russ took his Jeep into the taller mechanico in Penasco. The mechanico spent some time diagnosing the problem, them told Russ "Senor, looks like you've blown a seal." Russ, with an offended look on his face, responded "Hey buddy! Let's leave my personal life outta this and just fix the damn...

    Flounder/Fluke/Flatfish

Lenguada, based on the Spanish word "lengua," meaning tongue. Use some small plastic white grubs on jigheads. Or, I've caught them (mostly by accident) using a sabiki while making bait. They weren't very big, but they are there. Only problem with either lure is you'll catch a lot of lizardfish...

    Big Bruiser Yellowtail

Fishing Puerto Lobos this weekend - there's some big brutes cruising around. Fish were boiling in early morning and late afternoon around large bait schools south along the cliffs. Trick is to throw surface iron at them, fast retrieve. They'll charge the iron, but don't always take it. The fish...

    Border wait time Sunday

The "pork fetish" at the border is beyond belief. Yanno, I could understand it if I had a truck full of raw pig carcasses. But processed meats, like bacon, hot dogs, ham, bologna that were purchased in the U.S. originally somehow magically become infected once they cross that invisible line into...

    Credit Card Theft

Sorry to hear that. My wife's card got jacked in a similar fashion. Not sure where, but when the statement came in, there were oodles of charges at Pemex gas stations all over Sonora. The only place we had been at the time was to Rocky Point, but we hadn't used the credit card to buy gas. Only...
