My boat's bait tank intake tube was clogged. Once I tore it a part I found this little guy stuck in an elbow fitting. Only puffer I have caught.

I was getting rocked up for the first time from shore on my last outing. Once rocked up, I gave the fish some slack and gave it a minute. Then I take up the slack yank the rod high and stark cranking. Worked every time for me. I only swim out to save a lure.

That lure has quite the bill on it so I imagine it should run down about 25' or so? How deep was the water? I have a couple of large lures but have not used them as the larger variety of fish in RP tend to run much deeper than the lure could dive.

I am a fan of light action rod and reels. I have surf rods and such but they are a little overkill for the action you will encounter from shore. If you have a spinning reel you use for the lakes and such, that will work fine. I had bought a Fin Nor 3000 series reel this summer and matched it up...
