    Boating Safety/Communications

Yup, I also had to run 30+ plus miles back to port on one engine last October when the oil filter in the other engine clogged and the low oil pressure sensor shut it down - I made about 12 mph the whole way in. It was a very slow, but very comforting ride home.

Hassled at the border... BAH. Let me know when you've all been hauled into the office handcuffed 5 times, then we'll talk

    TIP for RP/PP or Lobos

HAHAHAHAHA - Another cost of fishing down in Lobos. - trailer wear and tear. This from two weeks ago: Let's see- that makes: 1) One fender 2) 2 taillights 3) 2 HUGE gouges in the gelcoat on the nose of the boat 4) 4 separated tires (Discount Tire road-hazard replacement...

    Fishing Rocky Point

yes, live bait wrangled up with sabiki's is a good idea - frozen squid works great, but sometimes they want something more wiggly. also (and without giving away too much top secret info publically :D) if you know how to catch 12-inch calico bass, and if you know how to find a rocky ledge on...

    Boating Safety/Communications

I agree with Kelney - get a Spot if you need a 2nd form of communication for confidence, or run with a buddy boat (always a great idea to find someone else who you know is going to be out there and agree to monitor a specific channel with them) and, as a 5 year former member of the...

    Rocky Pt. Fishing 5-3-2014

There has been some question by other people about the identification of that fish, LOL Shawno and I (and you Ted) all know that it was a Sawtail, and CJ's hi-res pics of the pics will help the experts to eventually come around and interpret Dr Rosenblatt's 1967 description of Mycteroperca...

    TIP for RP/PP or Lobos

The sardies were small (largest might have been 5 pounds). We need to get a trip pulled together, Kim-

    TIP for RP/PP or Lobos

Yes, that was us, and it must have been a damn ugly lady... she was a sun-beaten, 45 year old bald dude LOL Or, maybe what you saw was Dave's big fancy hat in the back seat.... Sunday was rough, but fishable - we caught about 30 yellows (nothing bigger than 10 pounds) and a...

14-15mph wind this weekend -- too much?

This coming weekend (Apr 25-27) looks el crappo on Friday and Saturday (might even see red flags on Saturday- 20+ mph winds), but so far the forecast looks pretty decent/fishable on Sunday. We might take time of work and run down on Sunday to fish Monday if the forecast holds...

    TIP for RP/PP or Lobos

No Joke... To Jerry, you listen. Semana Santa in Puerto Lobos is crazy, and sometimes it spills over into the week after Easter as well....

14-15mph wind this weekend -- too much?

Yeah, I named my outboards after a pair of asian sisters I dated in college.... Cooperative, reliable, quiet, and oh so very smoooooooth..... NO, I'm talking about the outboards....

We are close to eating Bait Fish and Jelly Fish

Hmmm... I won't discredit the source of the story (I'll simply snicker and move on to the content), but I will post a couple facts about the "smaller and smaller fish" trend that story and the photo sequence is suggesting. All the B&W photos in the story show tons of monster goliath grouper...

14-15mph wind this weekend -- too much?

If I keep my Zukes below 4500 on flat water I can get 3mpg, which is damn near astonishing for a dual outboard setup. -- I have actually made it to the 51, fished all day, and made it back to port on less than 40 gallons. But 4500rpm is only about 24 mph. When the water is smooth, my throttle...

Fish Story for the Week of March 30th

Shawno's a stud - when the waves are pounding, he pounds them right back... I don't like getting the salt in my ears, so when the seas start building, I just turn the engines off, and make the 2 iron-men row us back to shore. Those are some hefty Sardineros and Pintos, and wow, a red...

    Got Anchor?

Oh brother- I sense this is about to degenerate into a "favorite beers" thread... LOL and, those pics are both of my anchors- the pic that AZROB posted was the first one I made, about 2 or 3 years ago, out of an old hi-lift jack... That one ended up on REELHARD TOO, and was either lost...

    High tides this weekend

All moot points. The tides and solunar tables might look good for this weekend, but the wind forecast looks like fricking Katrina.

March 15 - Smacking the hell-o out of the yellows....

Hemmingway lived a life of experiences that most people wouldn't dare to dream of, and once his resources were exhausted, and his body unable to carry his mind where it wanted to go, he ended his life the same way he lived it - on HIS terms. We should all be so dignified, and fortunate...
