Ok we headin down tomorrow morning. Can't wait to get there.

Is BJ open all the way into town?

Hows the road into Cholla?

Does the fishing tourney start tomorrow and is that all running at JJ's? Would love to be there when people come rolling in with their catch.

Any Seasonal fish near shore for some surf casting fun?

Any current info is much appreciated.

Jerry - how long is the snorkeling good? All summer? I'm trying to make it my mission to get down there this summer. Is there anyplace to stay close by? I know nothing about Lobos or Santo Tomas.

There is a nice little rental in front of the big garage Ted stores his boat in...near Mason's house...I think it is under 100 a night...the guy that works around there had a key as I remember...or rent the Santos Tomas place I built in 2008. The lady rents for 95 a night...think on flip key. Casa Verde Santos Tomas finds it....about 40 minutes from lobos but a gated no hassles spot....but either place to not drive at night....if it happens have windows down or dome lights on for safety

I wouldn't drive down that far south at night. We have been crossing on Thursday nights at approximately 8:00 and that's late enough for me. We'd probably stay in PP overnight and then head out to Lobos or Santo Tomas early a.m. the next day. Hopefully have dates soon. Is snorkeling good all summer?

Oh ok. I was like damn that place does not look familiar to me. I know I haven't seen all the shore line in PP but was not recognizing it lol.

Depends on the wind and waves, I have snorkeled in front of my house at Pinto Pt. and have had 40feet of visibility and other times only 15ft.
When the water is like glass I can see the bottom from my patio 100 yards away and found it to be closer to 50 feet of visibility.
That only happens 10% of the times I am there and am too busy doing other things.
The north side of the big white house on Pinto Pt. is best, it has good protection from the waves coming in so the bottom doesn't get as stirred up.

"To busy doing other things". I have been stuck in that mindset lately myself....we need to snap out of it!

Yeah I know,
But the sad thing about having a house in RP's wonderful climate means repainting everything, every 3-5 years that is exposed to the Wind, Humidity,
and Sun.
I have concrete roof scupper drains that just erode away from the wind after 5-6 years and don't forget recoating my foam roofs every 3-5 years.
Let's not forget about those pesky flying termites, ATV's that need attention and an uncooperative VW rail.
Sometimes having a Condo would be great to avoid such chores. :)

Nah, my local friends would have to find other gringos to mooch from.:D

side note...I ran into a really drunk Lee Marvin at Bimsco hardware on Stone avr. in tucson in the 70s.He told me as me were in the brass fittings isle that sometimes he killed the whole day buying one part and installing it...He had a classic 50s pickup truck.....The canale on the side of my pizza oven are 25 bucks each at the hardware co-op in Y-griega..sort of gangster looking when you put a jade color concrete stain with some glow in the dark sealer...

Jerry the right ear on that interesting looking canale wouldn't last a year before disappearing from the wind tunnel effect at my house.
I get steady 15-20mph winds from the SE, during the summer season, I'd have to put ear muffs on him.;)
I have to replace my Mexican clay light sconces every 2-3 years, even after I seal them from the wind erosion. I tried painted metal ones but we all know that doesn't work out well in coastal environments.
Small price to pay for being able to live in a great place, even if it's only 40-50 days per year.:)

Get your Canales from Concrete Design in Tucson. I've had ballisters that have survived the salt and wind for 15 years. Next time we replace our Canales we'll use them.
