New Warnings

Well I had a real bad scare yesterday.............Knowing the lustful and wanton diesires of some of the teens today, I turned around and headed back to the house. Scooter barked at them and they shrieked so I think she save me from a terrible ordeal. Whew !!
:lol: I almost fell out of my chair :lol:

So I saw a little blurb on Good Morning Arizona about travel to Rocky Point, this morning. It made me so mad. But I was expecting it to come, because it's time for spring break plans to be made. Can't let those US dollars go down there to mexico! SHEESH! Why don't they be REAL and issue travel warnings to South Phoenix, and the subway system in New York.

Wont STOP me! or (tequila todd) from going next weekend....now I'm just waiting for my friends and family to call me and tell me I'm crazy for going.....been through it MANY times before!!!!

Biggest thing I'm worried about is putting on a swimsuit and will there be enough beer........:)

The newspaper article didn't even get it right! There was nothing in the warning about avoiding the beach areas of Rocky Point.....Argh!

Not all the news stories about Mexico are negative. There was a very good article in Fri Wall Street Journal about tourism in Mexico--yes it was up in 2011 and expected to go up again this year. And all the mid to luxury brand hotel chains have major expansion plans ongoing. They are making serious bets on Mexico. Of all the major tourist destinations only Acapulco is on hold. Manfacturers also are expanding more in Mexico. I trust the people putting up their money to have a better idea of whether is is safe or not rather than a bunch of gov workers than are first and foremost concerned with covering their backside--not giving our accurate info.

Mine was worse. I had the beach to myself - until 3 young teenage boys approached. And guess what! They smiled, wished me buenas tardes and kept walking! And lo and behold I didn't even have one twing of concern or fear, just a warm feeling of sharing a beautiful day. The Press would hate that.

Well I had a real bad scare yesterday. I live next to that large empty field between Las Conchas and the Mirador. Yesterday I was walking Scooter about dusk and about half way across I suddenly came upon three shadowy figures approaching me. Friends have warned that it is not safe walking there. Turns out they are correct. The three figures turned out to be teenage girls. Knowing the lustful and wanton diesires of some of the teens today, I turned around and headed back to the house. Scooter barked at them and they shrieked so I think she save me from a terrible ordeal. Whew !!

No Sir...
I do not carry extra money for bribes...just for my bad habbit of having fun. My post on the Azstarnet was just validating that ladies statement that some people have been known to do that and I have heard stories. Nothing like that has ever happened to me. Like I also stated, if you do stupid things while in Mexico, you are increasing your chances of getting in trouble.

I thought it read as if you did, and that plays right into their hands. That said, we've have some great threads about the pro's and con's of paying "bribes" on this forum, and I'm against it in most all cases.

Yeahhhhhhhhhh....no
I am planning to have place there someday. I have never been stopped,Harassed or felt on bit scared about traveling to PP or staying there.

There was this one time we were halted at a four way stop in Sonoyta for a random seatbelt check and of course, the kids did not have them on. Me not being the most fluent in spanish didn't understand at first until he pointed at the kids in the back seat and made a "Aaron Rodgers" gesture. LOL
He said its a law in Mexico to wear your seat belt ( all in spanish ) but I got the point. ---- my only run-in with the law in Mexico ---

My wife and I have been harassed. Years ago on a big weekend with the street of the Mirador packed with people. We were stopped leaving the Rocky Garden after it was turned into that strip club. We left to walk back to our room at Granada Del Mar. We were stopped and searched. They kept on asking me "mota"? We don't do drugs but they insisted that we did. An officer felt up my wife. She started crying and they let us go. It made us think twice about going back down there. We still go at least three times a year. We don't troll the bars any more though and hang out at our room at night unless we drive to Capones.

I was stopped once years ago for going the wrong way down a one way street (which I did). I knew I may have a chance when the officer asked for my registration, then held it upside down to "read" it (really..no kidding). He then asked me "do jew want a teekit?". I replied No..he asked a couple more times, I just kept acting ignorant (which is pretty normal for me) and he pointed at the One Way sign, shook his finger at me and said "No Mas". I'm sure he was looking for a few dollars and I am also sure he was mumbling under his breath about the stupid gringo who couldn't understand a One Way sign and didn't speak any more spanish than he did english.

In 20+ years of coming to RP that's been my only run in.

Badfish, you can go anywhere in Rocky Point in a taxi for 2 bucks. It's way safer than driving. If we go to Boo Bar we just take a taxi.....4 bucks round trip, peace of mind, priceless....

We cab it occasionally when we are down there. It all depends on if we have been drinking or if we will be later on that night.

I have been pulled over in town before. I was taken to the police station where I paid my $25 ticket and was released.

I have never been pulled over in PP in all my 46 years of going there......I guess I have been lucky....But, if I can't drive due to drinking, I have someone else drive.... I'm pretty much a stickler at that.....
