WiFi Internet through Sat-Net

Has anyone on here used Sat-Net's wifi? I'm particularly interested in the Las Conchas area.

I have been using the Tel-Cel stick, but the last time down it was really slow even though it
showed three out of four bars and the tower is just up the hill from us.

Sat-net is $45.00 for a month and it sounds like it is unlimited. They claim to have service in
Las Conchas, but we're down the hill on the beach in Sect 5. I also wonder if one of those Hot-Spot
thingys would work with that service.

So many questions...so little time.

We considered someone's satellite service a couple of years ago. I e-mailed some questions and didn't hear back. We ended up going for the TelMex service since it is less than $30 per month and includes local phone service. The internet is unlimited and the speed is 1 Mbps. I got a flyer in one of my TelMex USA statements that says the 3 Mbps is just a few pesos more. I plan on checking into that option one of these days.

Will Sat Net let you just pay for the months you use it? With TelMex, we pay every month regardless of which country we are in. If you can start and stop that could work out cheaper.

Yes, you can pay month to month @ $45.00. Check it out at Sat/Net Puerto Penasco (n)

Check Sat-Net and rpwifi out on my web site. All the info is there under Internet. rpwfi is what I use in Encanto. 3.25mbpsDL, .35+- mbpsUL. Both require purchase of a roof top antenna. Around $ 150.00 installed I last heard.

Both are plans of 3mo's, 6,9,and 12 months. Sat-Net may have a 1 month.

I use Sat Net on the beach in Encanto. For the most part it is reliable. For whatever reason every now and then you either get knocked off the internet or it is down for periods of time. I hear they are upgrading their equipment but who knows!

Turns out the service I have is the 3Mbps, even though we usually only get around 1. However, it does have a "subject to availability in your zone" disclaimer. That's always the case with DSL.

I have the same problem with my TelCel Stick and it really turned slow last time.

Terry, you are right about the SatNet situation. If you want a whole house wireless, you need a mast attached to the house, $375.00 USD. They do have month to month rates.
