Hi, just returned from a 1 day trip to Penasco yesterday (Saturday). Gas at the Why Casino was $2.69, at Why Not and the other station were $2.77. The exchange rate in Sonoyta was $12.70. Gas at OXXO was $7.72 or $2.30/gallon. In Penasco it was 7.41 or $2.21/gallon.
I'm guessing when we arrived in the morning the temperature was in the upper 80s. The marine layer hadn't lifted and it was warm but not unpleasant (and we had to do work in town).
On the beach in Miramar:
Temperature at 12:00 p.m. was 94 degrees and 60% humidity.
Temperature at 3:00 p.m. was 92 degrees and 75% humidity.
Water temperature at 3:00 was 90 degrees, and out swimming further was 88-89 degrees. With the breeze and in the shade it was nice, but once you stepped out of the shade and weren't on the shore, it was hot.
Tacos at El Serape were excellent.
Border wait was 5 minutes at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Hope this helps if anyone is contemplating going down. (Although it's supposed to be hotter this week).
