I went down for Thanksgiving and returning Sunday there was absolutely NO ONE at the two border checkpoints inside AZ. I can't remember a time in the last 8 years where those two checkpoints were unmanned. This includes every major holiday weekend. Did I miss something? Did Stump do away with the border patrol already?

My guess is that with the huge influx of illegals now trying to cross the border before President Trump is in office. The agents were needed on the ground at the border to try and catch some of the swarm.

the agents on the Mexico side were busy last Wednesday going south into Mexico - checked every RV it seemed - took one hour to cross border southbound.
Took only 6 minutes coming home on Monday, crossing border going north into Az.

Broken. I haven't seen this in at least 8 years or maybe more. I can't remember when they created the second check point, Bush or Obama...??? Regardless, there was not one person at either checkpoint inside AZ. Neither one!! The Ajo/Gila Bend one actually had the cones up and you kept going straight as the road was designed. I thought maybe it was because there was a good amount of traffic but nothing different than Memorial Weekend or one of the others.... weird. It certainly helped get me home quicker which I appreciated.

One in Organ Pipe was not a soul to be seen coming back yesterday. The one between Ajo and Gila bend was active, though. There was ZERO traffic at the border around noon. We drove right up like the first car they had seen all day! Pretty slow tourist weekend, which is exactly the weekends I like to be there.
