No it really really stinks. Google Translate

The spalling of marine product like snails, scallops, clams and other species come Catarina sea has not been regulated by the municipal authorities responsible in the matter, so that besides being organic waste deposited in the Municipal Basurón are also clandestinely thrown on the outskirts of the city causing a serious focus of infection.
New colonies Peñasco and San Rafael are the most affected, as in the evenings advantage descalladores pour some shell debris and organic matter in the open, causing foul odors, fly infestation, and gastrointestinal infections.
Given the lack of monitoring and supervision by the authorities, the sides of the railroad tracks in these parts of the city are also utilized as illegal dumping, so it starts to be a problem for the population in these months of the year when increases the amount of product coming from the sea.
Other problems that arise within the urban area of the city by the shucked shell, scallops and clam Catarina, are constant complaints of neighbors which performs this activity without minimum hygienic standards, as the waters of these marine products are discarded causing drainage pipes clogged by the thick slime of organic matter.
Last year when there was a significant rise in the extraction of these marine species, caused serious problems with treatment plants and in homes where this activity took place from shucked these products, so it was more of a demonstration at City Hall .
In this year seeks to prevent this problem arises with proper waste tank marine shell as happened last year, so the lack of jobs and employment opportunities are more citizens who integrate these activities in the sector fishing, and the lack of regulation by the authorities and begin to observe illegal dumping in the peripheries of the city.

Rotting snail piles... yummy!

The only stink that even comes close was in San Lucas Cove during Humboldt squid season. All the fish camps of pangas would squid all night, then clean the squid in the shallow water of the cove, which of course, washed right up on the beach. You couldn't stand to be anywhere near there, the smell would knock you unconscious and the flies would immediately devour you.

All that is a real waste. Processed it would probably make a fabulous organic fertilizer.
Not so much -- it's all shell, for the most part. BUT... it could be processed to make an additive for chicken feed. Back in my farm days, we used to add a calcium supplement to the chicken feed to keep the egg shells strong and it was made primarily from oyster shell.

We just grind up the chicken's eggs and feed it back to them. Kind of cannibalistic but it works and it's free.
The Diamond Mountain Kali Cult next to my ranch does a sacrement of Lama Christy (the goddess next door) cutting her finger and toe nails, mixing in a little vaginal secretions and the followers eat it....sort of like a chicken eating its own chicken egg
