Question about prescription drug issue

Hi,

I just recently posted a question about local doctors...now I have another.
My understanding is that technically you are supposed to have a prescription from your
American doctor when you cross back over the border with prescription drugs obtained
in Mexico.

What if my primary doctor is in Rocky Point? Is there a problem taking my medicine
with me? Is his prescription sufficient?

If you have a USA passport you will need an american Dr. script for a narcotic drug,
I think you are talking about viagra right.

No, I am talking about my regular medicines for diabtes: metformin,
humunlin-n and lisinopril. None of these are narcotics.

Opps Sorry about that Mark, Must of had a brain fart. You should be okay. None of my
buisness but can you get get the lino @ walgreens for 4 dollars. as long as you have a
scrip. The others are expensive and I see your point.

Take your current prescription bottle with you and refill it with the drugs you buy in Mexico. Problem solved. But, depending on exactly what you take, be forewarned that it may be cheaper right here in the US. If it's not generic, they may not have it in some cases.

Personally, I've never had a problem with simple things like anti-biotics and such. As long as it is enough for personal use and not cases of the stuff, Customs doesn't really question it. I commonly bring back Ritradol to control gout attacks. Have even declared it when asked. It was a non-issue and nobody demanded a prescription.

The answer to your question is yes- any prescription from a Dr is valid. Besides, the custom agents are looking for narcotics

Yes, you have to watch the prices carefully, with over the counter stuff anyway. I bought 12 Coriciden (?) for allergies at a local Farmacia, cost $77.5 pesos. Isn't that a lot?
