Papers for kayak

My buddy and I went down on the 18th and at the border we got the red light and the girl asked for "papers" for the kayaks (we had 2 on a trailer). She didn't speak any English, but with my limited Spanish I was able to figure it out what she wanted. I didn't think I needed any papers for kayaks, but since she had a young guy in camo standing along with her (and he was well armed), I just went along with the request. I was able to produce the bill of sale for one of the kayaks, showed her that it matched my drivers license and that seemed to satisfy her.

Very odd, I've not been asked for anything in the way of papers for a kayak. I was glad I carry them in the boat, not sure what would have happened if I didn't have them.

Probably not a bad idea to carry something just in case,
