If you want to shop locally, these three stores are general merchandise stores owned and operated by a local family. All are located within the 'El Centro" area and within a few blocks of each other. Rocky Imports is next to TelMex and Salmos is down the street 3 blocks or so. The prices are pretty good overall and the selection is, well the selection is Mexican!! While each store specialilzes somewhat you never know what you will find. Salmos has traditionally carried US brands of household stuff like detergent, coffee, diswasher detergent, etc. Rocky Imports has a lot of 'decorator items' toys and jewelry and Numeros sells wheelbarrows, some tools, soap, detergent and snack foods. For one or two items Numeros is my choice as it is close.
It can be a bit of a shopping adventure if you are easygoing and have an open mind and a sense of humor. I was looking for a wire rack to hang over a shower head to hold shampoo in Rocky Imports on one occasion. I was perusing the aisle that has similar items and lookd down and there mixed in with bath items was a display of soccer shin guards!! A creative shelf stocker at Numeros one time had all the spray can items in one location, paint, deodorant, insect spray, etc. I enjoyed that one.
I'm sure that the opening of the Bodega and now the Waly Club cut into the business of these stores so when in town give em a try.
