New "Group" for Penasco Resident Issues

No problem here. It's as if a bunch of you were PMing each other in private anyway, so truly, no issues on my part.

Other than the "ban" thing you mentioned. I certainly won't ban anybody from the forum because they didn't adhere to the rules of your group. If you want to kick their ass up on their shoulders and throw them out of your group, that's totally your perogative.

<boot to da :moon:>
Thanks Stuart.
I was not thinking of a general forum ban , I would not like that, just for the group.

I'm not sure whats going on, but I think you guys want an area in the forum just for you guys?

We can put you in a different group which will give you access to it.

Do you want "visitors" to be able to view it, just not post, or not see it at all?

LMK.
No axe to grind, no ulterior motives, no problems with the board as it functions now.
Those of us who live here full time have different issues than the visitors. I'd like it closed because we may then be able to have some discussions that we would prefer be private. I think of this group as it exists as a bar room crowd. Anyone can come in and sit at the bar and talk about whatever they want. Just sitting at the bar is permission to be addressed by any other bar sitter. There is some stuff you don't want to talk about is such a public place and with people you really know little or nothing about. You can move to a table for some privacy or to a private room for more privacy.

Someone else posted about the way to set up a 'group' I set up ( or tried to:veg:) a 'group' using the instructions there, as a closed or by invitation only group. I would like to restrict both viewing and posting. I am thinkig the initial group would be selected by me I guess, then acceptance through a nomination and accord of existing members or something like that. At this juncture I'm thinking that full time or very close to it, in Penasco is the primary requirement to join. I'm open to suggestions. If it gets too raucous, I'll get out completely. Information and perhaps assistance sharing with an atmosphere of some familiarity and trust, is what I have in mind. Confrontation is expected and accepted but in an academic sort of way. Offer your points, support you points with argument (discussion) have an open mind. Keep the whining to a minimum, make your point and move on.
I guess this should all go in a FAQ area?

hahaha...hadn't thought of it that way, just thought it might be for stuff that is only of interest to those of us who live here. What might that be? Hmm...dunno...Roberto?
I don't get the Filtered Information bit. ?? Just a place to talk about common issues with some privacy.

Lovin it in RP!
for about 300 bucks and a ton of time you can set up your own private club (Forum) and figure out a way to pay for it. I think that the information available here is of benefit to anybody who wants to read it.

If there is something that is distasteful to post as it relates to tourism ( our econ generator) it is best for all to see whats really going on. What I don't like and have never liked on forums is that the folks that have a negative agenda to support are generally the most ardent posters. There are tons of lurkers who may have a quality post but are afraid to be beat up by forum bullies. I do not like the idea of a private club of fulltimers that live here as we can have our discussions in private whenever we want. I think it would send a negative message to would be posters or visitors to the site if they knew there was a private area where the dirty laundry got washed. It is what it is. Life happens wherever you are....... Our job is to inform and encourage visitation and to have discussions about life in Mexico as we know it first hand as fulltimers or as vacationers, both sides are extremely important to the future of our community both online and real life. Enough from me I am going to the beach! AJUA! have a beer and hug the person you love I am outta here!

OK Roberto....combining those two statements makes me go hmmmmm! What are the trying to hide from us "commoners"....you know, the trailer trash, and even the pigeon coopers????? Hey...if you don't want us discussing some of this stuff, whatever IT may be.... ok by me.....but it still makes me wonder!
I have no interest in hiding anything, and have no elitist objectives, see my post here earlier. I don't use the terms 'trailer trash' or 'pigeon coopers' . You know Joe, it's just a seperate group with a slightly different objective. We all qualify the content of our discussions according to what we know about the company we are in.

see if a tab could be set up on this site if you want to go that route- easier to filter among the 1000 or so members here. you could make the criteria simple "must own property in rocky point or live in rocky point full time".

Roberto...it was just "interesting" that you were suggesting "banning" someone if they let out any info that was discussed in the "other" area!!

Anything that is helpful as a result of collaboration would benefit us all. Do I qualify for membership with approximately 45 days a year there? Or will residence qualifications meet Mexican law standards, us tax law standards, or european standards. Please post al legal qualifications. Hahahahahahaha

I, for one, would be interested so sign me up."-) Would like to learn lots more about how people feel about living in PP long term and various negatives and positives. I live full time in Mazatlan but might be looking at moving closer to the border for family in the near future.

You should just ask questions on the public forum. I thought the private group might work out but the quibbling started immediately and I lost interest so it does not exist. You will get a lot of useful information and you can always contact members privately. If you read through past posts you will see that some have a particular song to sing others are more open. Only a few of us live here permanantly, full time. Some forum participants are property owners who visit with some frequency and most are occasional vacationers and of course there are always a few who just like to stir the pot. Common interest is Penasco, but often for very different reasons. I am permanent, full time, have been for 6 years. You can PM me (after you make the requisite posts) if you want.
