My Experience This Weekend

I had a chance at the last minute to go down this weekend. I took my sister (an RP veteran) and a friend (who is also a co-worker and an RP virgin). Just to give you a little background, my friend is Mexican American, speaks Spanish, and has family in El Paso and years ago spent a lot of time in Juarez before it got bad. Friend's husband was petrified for her to go - always has been, but after the recent news it was even worse.

So, I put on my Rosie/Russ hat, and my imaginary name tag from the RP Convention and Visitor's Center, and tried to show her just how wrong the news is and how beautiful RP really is.

She loved the drive down - Organ Pipe, Pinacate, etc. Loved the Sonoran Sea, was overwhelmed by the beautiful view and how nice the condos were.

We arrived on Friday afternoon and once we dropped off our stuff we went out for supplies. She was extremely nervous at Super Ley, the Corona agencia and Pollo Lucas. There's a really good burro place right next to the Oxxo on No Reeleccion. Finally came off the beach once it was dark and she was scared to leave the condo so my sister and I went out to pick up the burros.

Of course, we had no problems all weekend and as usual, people couldn't have been nicer. In the end, even though she said she loved the condos and the beach, she said she'd never go back. She thinks it too risky being out in town. Oh yeah, I forgot to add, she grew up in South Phoenix.

Some people just prefer to stick their heads in the sand and live in fear. I did my part with her and I'm glad I tried. I won't stop telling people how safe, fun, and beautiful RP is. I love all parts of Mexico and I always will - warts and all. It just makes me sad how even when something is right in front of someone's face they still don't see it sometimes.

Haters gonna hate. It's just that simple. Some people cannot get over their inner fears and you won't be able to fix that if they were handing out bars of gold on the street. Nice try, though.

Lovin it in RP!
Yeah so I work with several hundred people a year vacationing here. Some for the first time, some for the millionth time.

Some people get it, some people dont.....I used to spend a lot of time selling the benefits of this place to people who dont care. It just is not worth it.

I love it, my wife loves it, 99% of my clients love it. Alas it comes down to the comfort zone. So sad.

I dont want to die in front of my 60" tv in my trailer in South Phoenix watching FOX news, I want to live life! You are either in or out!

Its Monday, the weekend is over my work for the week is done I earned my money (very little but its mine) Naomi and I are heading to Cholla bay to put the jetski in the water and have a great afternoon as the tide comes in. I love it

Have a great day no matter where you are!

OMG, those burritos are sooooo gooood!!!! I was telling the guy that I had to bring a couple back for my husband. He laughed really hard when I told him that my husband said if I don't come back with burritos, I shouldn't come back at all!

By the way....whats my hat look like?
Truth be told, I spotted you at Pollo Lucas on June 23rd around 1:30 in the afternoon. My hubby and I had just arrived in town, condo wasn't ready yet, so we headed out to get some chicken. I would have introduced myself to you but I was stressed out because we had our cat in the car (first road trip for her) and I left the car running with the air conditioner on while we ate at a table right in front. Anyway, you looked like you were in a hurry.

So, to answer your question, your hat is straw with a wide brim! LOL

If you're coming from Benito Juarez, going down No Reeleccion, just past the RR tracks on the left hand side (just before the Oxxo at the corner), you will see a tiny shack with red plastic tables and chairs out front. The west side of Oxxo's parking lot is next to the burrito shack.

The plywood sign on top says: "Burros Noehmi". Menu is:

Carne Asada
Machaca con Papas
Desehbrada con Papas (with Red Chile)
Chicharron (with Green Chile)

The burros are HUGE. Definitely 2 meals in one burro. They are $40 pesos each. I LOVE the carne asada and the machaca. The only reason we even found it is because everytime we drove past there was a huge line and we thought it had to be good, and it was!

We eat there a lot and if I looked in a hurry it was fake, I am never in a hurry but if I have other people with me then maybe I want to get home sooner.....who knows!
