Found this guy on the beach in Encanto. Must be some kind of an eel. After looking at his teeth I wouldn't want him mad at me! He was about 3 1/2 feet long.

I love dead stuff on the beach if it is small enough to drag away with the old Atv when it starts stinking

Can anyone help identify this? I assume it's a species of eel, but as I search I haven't found anything that looks the same.

Looks dead to me. Mature Conger ell I would guess...
Yeah, it's definately dead. Damn thing was bobbing in the surf with its head pointing up slightly out of the water looking very alive. Nobody wanted to go swimming! I watched it for a while before I pulled it on shore. The thing that puzzles me is the wide head. Most of the photos I look at have longer pointed jaws,

I like looking at everything on the beach, dead or alive! I hate to see dead dolphins or sea lions, but they've always been there. The thing that bothers me is this year we've been finding dead sea turtles. In the past we would find one every now & then, but this year we've found 7 or 8. A few years back one built a nest in the yard and the eggs hatched a couple months later. Wasn't there but saw the pics and heard the story. It was very cool. Hope there will be some left to come back and build another nest.

i snapped a pic of a dead baby dolphin that washed up a in feb last year. crazy to see that type of stuff up close and in person. im just used to dead fish washing up thats about it. I saw a cedo video on youtube where a large squid washed up and they were playing with it.

Thanks Stuart. I think you are right. Great website. I'll save it for future reference.
Thank Gene Kira. Probably the most knowledgeable Mexican fish guy out there. Years of labor have gone into that site. I, as a few others here, have contributed to Gene's site over the years.

It's an excellent knowledge base!! :)
