Yeah, it's definately dead. Damn thing was bobbing in the surf with its head pointing up slightly out of the water looking very alive. Nobody wanted to go swimming! I watched it for a while before I pulled it on shore. The thing that puzzles me is the wide head. Most of the photos I look at have longer pointed jaws,Looks dead to me. Mature Conger ell I would guess...
I like looking at everything on the beach, dead or alive! I hate to see dead dolphins or sea lions, but they've always been there. The thing that bothers me is this year we've been finding dead sea turtles. In the past we would find one every now & then, but this year we've found 7 or 8. A few years back one built a nest in the yard and the eggs hatched a couple months later. Wasn't there but saw the pics and heard the story. It was very cool. Hope there will be some left to come back and build another nest.I love dead stuff on the beach if it is small enough to drag away with the old Atv when it starts stinking
Thank Gene Kira. Probably the most knowledgeable Mexican fish guy out there. Years of labor have gone into that site. I, as a few others here, have contributed to Gene's site over the years. Thanks Stuart. I think you are right. Great website. I'll save it for future reference.
