Just read where the movie complex is suppose to open this Thursday, June 28th. Pictures of it look great. Also in the article it mentioned a Super Santa Fe coming into the mall plus other businesses. Perhaps that is why a lot of work suddenly being done. Anyone know anything about timing, what other businesses going in, etc?

Wonderful if they will have some US films? Hopefully prices will NOT be like US. We gave up going to movies years ago because the prices were so high and usually the movies weren't all that good.

I quit going to the movies when they killed Bambi's mother... why would anyone want to pay those outrageous prices to have your feet stick to the floor and you don't know what you might be sitting on or in..?

Don't know about the opening but I can report a lot of workers there every day. There are plants in planters on the driveway going underground. A week or so ago I noticed a large number of boxes being unloaded big enough to hold theater seats. The entire north permiter is still fenced off with sheets of plywood so it's hard to see any progress there.

Lovin it in RP!
All the new signage is up for the upcoming movies I bet that that place will be paaaaaacked out tomorrow night for the inauguration. I know we will be there to shoot some photos and take a look at the newest addition to Rocky Point. The chat in the local community is abuzz about this they are super stoked it is fun to see the excitement.

Well, I see you all got out ahead of me on this one. But I'll toot my own horn anyway, lol:

Today is a big day in Rocky Point. Two of the six long-awaited movie theaters in the new Porto Mio Shopping Center will open for business tonight, and to say that Peñasquenses are excited about it would be an understatement.

Each of the six theaters in the complex will seat 150 people and will show first-run movies. The theaters will be operated by Cinemark (“Your Theater, Near You”), a new concept of high quality movie theaters for small cities that puts both national and international film within easy reach of a public that traditionally has to travel hours to larger cities in order to see the latest films. The best part? Theater tickets are cheap in Mexico, generally running in the vicinity of US$3.00! And word is that some of those movies will be in English with Spanish subtitles.
See some more about the shopping center itself at The Tides

I wonder how many kids in PP have never seen an escalator, much less a movie in a real theater?

We will be taking photos of the inauguration but wont see a movie but I will say that I read that they will be showing movies in 3 d and hd. It appears this is a state of the art facility and the future looks bright for the complex. It is outstandingly beautiful in form when you walk through the plaza

Can you check prices? More exposure we can give the better for making it a success :) People might actually be able to enjoy and afford going to the movies again! Wouldn't be be fantastic if the opening of Chavez could be held here!
