Get yourself some of these darting shad's by Renosky. You will be happy you did. They come in a 2 pack bring enough the fish were ripping them to pieces. I just stocked up on them for our trip down this summer.

Salinas Point Beach Buggy Trip

Anyone out there interested in taggin along with us this coming Saturday morning 18 Apr 15?

We will be at Reggie's around 8:30, make the run down to Santo Tomas, then to the beach, make a right turn at the water then run north to Salinas Point. Gonna do some beer drinkin, beach combin, surf fishing and clam diggin in the estero.

You just never know what you might find along that beach, whales, bales, who knows what?

We will make the return trip down to the Desemboque fish camp then back out to the so called highway.

We will be in our 06 topless khaki colored Wrangler Rubicon.

My cell number is 928-941-0344.

Jim, I'm jealous! That sounds like my kind of adventure...

Good photos Jerry,

Every tip along that coastline is an adventure. The flotsam and jetsam line along that beach is like none other. The numbers of washed up rotting dead sea life is incredible, not to mention the tons of weird trash. Don't forget the dunes, ancient indigenous humanoid midden piles and the lizards. This weekend's super high tides will bring schools of egg laying Gulf Grunion up by the zillions and the eggs of last months run will be hatching. It could be a rarely seen spectacle with the Grunion being slammed and pushed up to the beach by game fish and nailed from the air by the birds. Perfect conditions for pitching a lure past the frenzy and retrieving it thru the melee. I've got corvinas, sierras, triggers, sand bass and even a few yellowtail in these situations.

So Jerry, wanna meet up and do a little BS'n over a cervesa or two?

Later,

JJ

I sure hope so as Salina's point is basically the spit, the place Jerry and I took you down to on your first trip to Santo Tomas.

Pretty close yes but not exactly. That's why I said that's my kind of adventure! I'd love to get back down to the Spit or across and a little to the North on that Salinas point. If you look at it on Google Earth it looks like the fishing could be amazing up that way... Isnt that Bahia San Jorge to the N of Salinas Point? I'm jonesing to get back down and do some serious fishing but I think Im going to have to wait till May. Speaking on that, anyone fishing in May down South? Leigh? Jerry? Kenny? JJ? I'd love to get back down to Lobos or Santo Tomas in May or June. Let's try and arrange another Great Corvina Hunt... Loved that trip! Thanks Kenny and Jerry!!!!

Interesting Jerry that the article you referenced was from over a year ago. Sadly, it still took them this long to do this:

http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2015/04/16/400177895/feds-place-commercial-sardine-fishing-on-hold-for-more-than-a-year

Scary what ripple effect this is having. Hopefully this 1 year hiatus will have some positive results.

And sadly it's nothing new. I remember talk about the sharp decline of Sardine's in my early years as I growing up on the west coast..
The great California sardine boom and bust... In only a few decades, it boomed and busted, and by the 1950s the fishery and canneries were wiped out.http://marcsala.blogspot.com/2009/02/great-california-sardine-boom-and-bust.html
