Laguna Shores

Has anyone stayed at or own at Laguna Shores.Thoughts on resort.Looks isolated.Roughly how far from say Calle 13 or Malecon to hang out and eat or drink.I have read somewhere the tide goes out roughly 2 miles.I understand the low tide.We have been to Penasco many times.But two miles??Sounds exagerated.Thanks in advance for any info

Laguna Shores is approx 13-14 miles from the Malecon, there is a restaurant there, hours?, there might be a small store.
The tide does go out at least 1+ mile during extreme tides (new moon, full moon). Probably goes out 1/2+ mile rest of the time.

I know this from walking out to see how long it took to reach the water during low tide, 20+ minutes at a decent pace.
LS is a nice quiet place but there aren't many things to do for entertainment.

I have a place in Cholla and it's 7 miles to Malecon but it has JJ's, The Oyster House for food and drinks,
a couple of other small restaurants and 2 small stores.

We find ourselves going into town every 2-3 days to eat and buy food and shop.
Encanto, Playa La Jolla and other places south of RP have the same problem with being isolated.

I wouldn't own in LS because of the location (not a put down on LS), my place in Cholla the water is never more than 100 yards away
at low tide and I'm on the ocean side.

Thing is, one person's “isolation problem” is another person's benefit. Depends on how you choose to spend your time. A 20 minute ride into town for dinner once a week is to some, merely a side trip during their beach getaway . . .

20 minutes not bad..I can deal with that.Looking for a quiet vacation with my wife.It might just work.We have stayed at Sandy Beach a couple of times,stayed in the Mirador a few times.We also stayed at Mayan Palace although it is a beautiful resort.It felt like a haul to civilization.

I agree with you, Being in Cholla, it's nice to have some space and quiet with only a 10-15 minute drive into town.
We looked into the Encanto area years ago before electricity came to Cholla and the Encanto area. We love the beaches and community
but it was a little too quiet for us when we were younger. Now it might be perfect. LOL

We find ourselves going out to Encanto a few times a year to enjoy the open beach for a day trip. (since Sandy beach isn't very accessible)

We stayed at Laguna Shores last March. Every thing was torn up. No clubhouse, no restaurant. No internet. The ocean was almost non-existent during our stay. We walked in water was all over the kitchen due to bad dishwasher. The toilet tank was improper and wobbly. Had people out twice to fix both. No results. Got tired of calling. Finally had to leave towel in front of dishwasher. We were in the bottom floor of 6 or 8 unit building closest to the entrance. Inside was all white, minimal decorations. Very generic. Furthest from the beach. It was the quietest time we ever spent in Puerto Penasco,as no other renters were in the units. Only coyotes running outside almost every day. We did drive the 14 miles to the Malecon everyday to enjoy the good food at several places. It was all good. Laguna Shores Quietness a 10. Beach a 1. Maintenance a 2 because they did show up twice, but they didn't fix anything. The office was a joke. All they seemed concerned about was selling me a timeshare. But they don't want it called a timeshare anymore.

Thank you..I agree.We are looking in April.Los Conchas looks great.We have never stayed there but drove through.The only reason I am looking at Laguna Shores is we have timeshare and they came up as a swap.So looking to possibly take advantage of using it.Thank You

Hello , We own a timeshare at Laguna Shores , the new restaurant was up and running last time we were there , but we liked the old the one they had as the new one is a bit too fancy pants for us but always has had good food , if you don’t mind cooking some in your condo , grabbing lunch before the dinner price kicks in or don’t mind the fancy pants dinners then you won’t have to go to town much But for us the drive to town seems to only take 15 minutes , so the peacefulness is nice and a 15 minute drive isn’t too bad for us to go people watch or eat or go to a different beach because it is awesome to hang at the pool there and watch the ocean (I’m not one to get in much , just love the salt water air and atmosphere) but it is true that the tide goes wayyyyyyyyyy out , check the tide charts the dates you are going if you want to make sure you are there when the tide comes up , I personally do not like wading my feet in the water there, kind of marshy like in a weird way so we like to hang out there to relax but always end up going to sandy beach to put our feet in, let our children get in the ocean , take advantage of beach vendors (there are no vendors allowed at Laguna Shores which is a plus to some, a minus to others or a non issue depending on how you feel about all the vendors) a couple times during the week . As far as our rooms , everything has always been in working order and clean , the staff is great to us so if you have an issue address it with them and I can’t imagine them not taking care of you . We did do a swap once for the “advantage program” and stayed in playa Del Carmen area and that blew Laguna Shores away so depending on how nice your original time share is , you could be disappointed or just happy it is a decent , clean , safe , quiet place where at least you have access not too far from Peñasco , definitely do not want to get your hopes up about anything super special though . Hope this info helps!

Thank you..We always swap out our timeshare.We purchased ours in the Dominican Republic years ago.15 min to town not bad.I can deal with that..I Appreciate the info
