Far out.
I only glanced at the story, and did not dig into the gory technical details (yet) , but the initial question that jumped out at me was:
It works by spraying water into hot air to cool it, and it generates power as the cooler air falls and spins air driven turbines... In other words: It creates vertical downward wind.
so, hot air: very abundant in northern Mexico in summer... but where would the water come from? the dry Colorado river? The uber-salty sea of cortez 90 miles away...?
and since the water would evaporate as it cools the hot air, it means less water for agriculture, drinking, etc...
and also- since Northern Mexico is already among the windiest places on Earth- why use a technology that requires water to cool the air to make it fall?
Wouldn't windmills be more practical?
That's it- I'm going to have to make some phone calls and take over this whole project...:cruisin:
