Getting mail in Rocky Point.

I have my mail sent to a P.O. box in Lukeville. I often order stuff from Amazon. It's a bit of a hassle to drive up to Lukeville to get the packages. I was wondering if anyone on the forum has ordered anything from Amazon or anyone else in the states and had it sent directly to their address in Rocky Point.

I have never seen a mail delivery truck or postman around town. Do they even deliver mail here? If they do are there any lengthy customs delays, or lost packages I would appreciate any feedback.

I used Burrito Express for about 3 years. I stopped using them because they failed to take the slip out of my PO box up to the counter and get my mail that was too big to fit in the box. I was expecting it and caught the problem when I stopped at the post office on the way up to Phoenix. The post master told me that she was getting ready to send it back and that I was lucky to catch it before that happened.

That was the last year I used them. Maybe they have changed but that was my experience.

There was a problem a few years back with people bring mail into MX. Sometimes the mail included check. Also sometimes the package had goods that required duty. I do not know if they found a work around to that.

There are two ways to do this to my knowledge. One way is to get a PO Box in Lukeville and contract with Burrito Express to make the run to the border three times a week. Packages are a pain. They must be sent the gas station and. Are extra to pick up. This year we might try a digital scanning solution.

I have used Burrito Express for a few years, it is $36.00 per month. They pick up mail Monday, Wednesday and Friday and normally available after 3 pm the same day. Packages: 90 percent of my packags go to the post office, including things as big as a 4000 watt generator, Stanley pressure washer, K-cups, printer ink.. there is no charge. those items I have delivered by UPS Surepost using my P.O. box as my address, many packages can be delivered just using th US postal service https://www.ups.com/us/en/support/shipping-support/shipping-costs-rates/surepost-rates.page.. Burrito Express then charges extra for package pickup.. K-cups (80) Up to $7.00.. pressure washer 26.00.. ink for printer $4.00.. if a delivery has to go to the gas station, the charge is $12.. it can be 1 bar of soap or 10 big screen tvs.. just $12.. however if the 10 tvs dont arrive same day.. then it could be as high as $120.00.. Burrito Express will pick the items up for you and pay the gas station.. all of your packages will be opened and searched before they cross the border. (just packages not normal mail).. I wouldn't cross them either without checking them..Once your packages arrive at the Burrito Express office they will determine a cost for delivery and tack on the $12.00 for the gas station..you will use the gas station address for packages that cant go to your P.O. Box.. In 3 years I have only not been delivered 1 item, but not Burrito Express's fault.. it was lost by UPS.. You will need to notify Burrito Express if you hav a package going to the gas station, the first time anyway.. they check for my name now at the gas station, so no need for me to notify..To send mail from Rocky Point, just put it in Burrito Express mail box..

We too have used Burrito Express off and on for a few years, whenever we are primarily in Mexico for multiple month stays. We had one incident where we didn’t get any mail for about a month, and then a day after complaining about it at Burrito it all showed up in our box. Apparently misplaced in the office.

We are strongly considering trying Earth Class Mail.

This would be cheaper than Lukeville PO Box plus Burrito Express. More importantly we shouldn’t miss anything while moving back and forth for short visits. Not sure how packages will work though. We have neighbors in Flagstaff we can have packages delivered to, but sometimes Amazon will use USPS without warning.
