Free Week @ Mayan Scam Tips?

A friend of mine's boss gave her a free week at the Mayan Palace starting tomorrow and she's wondering if it's legit, etc. He is part of this timeshare group: Global Offices ,and the company is based out of Scottsdale. His name is on the main confirmation email, but she called Mayan and they said they put both names on the check in for the reservation. The email did show 0 balance due, but do you think they will try to hit her with other fees?

Should she prepare herself for a bunch of drama while checking in? And will they probably color-code her wristband so that they know to constantly harass her to get her OWN timeshare?

Info for the place is:

Thanks!

Oh, right, I've warned her about that. I'm just wondering if they're going to throw down a $50 a day cleaning fee or tax, etc.

Lovin it in RP!
Mayan is a nice place, but nuthin is free. She wont spend any money but she may have to spend some time with the guys! They are sellers, thats their job!

Brilliant! And the greeter with the hour of your time, you mean that's so she can pretend to bring you around the premises as soon as you get there, but it's actually a way to lure you into the pitch room? Or she wants to schedule an hour for the pitch at some other time?

Ahh, OK, perfect. Thanks for all the helpful advice!

ANOTHER good friend's mom bought a timeshare down there (I was mortified she had, I had been warning her for years not to) and after less than two years she is so disappointed. Among other issues, the indoor pool was her selling point (she's obsessed with swimming) and so far that's never been working while she was there, or it was dirty as hell. She's trying to pawn it of on her daughter for $1500, I told her no way, then she'd be paying the $500 (or more if they feel like it!) annual fee until she's in her grave. And then they'll go after her kids! Haha

Yeah, I don't know exactly what she purchased either, and what the date restrictions are, etc. A week there for $500 is cheap, depending on many factors, maybe there are other fees. No clue.

There was a promo going on for rent one week, get another free. This may be how her boss had the extra week. I'm giving away my extra week also. The only extra charge there will be is the 55 pesos a day tax. The room was paid for when the reservation was made. They may have the boss's name as the reserving person, but her name should be listed as the "guest". And they ARE very good at selling more timeshares. From what I've heard, she just needs to say "no" a couple times and she's off the hook. We're going for our first time and so excited!!!!!

PS--Wahoo--what is Pueblo Bonito? Is that a resort? "and you can use the mayan pass for all the Pueblo Bonitos!!!!"
