FISHING IN CLOSE OFF PLYA DE ORO

I have fished off and on for the last week or so and it is not to good. I have had a few nice Rock Bass and a few nice Trigers. Two good meals!
The number of 6 inch size trigers is just wild. Go out and you should throw back 20 0r 30 in a few hours. Even though they are throw backs they are so fun to catch on light gear. I don't know how fast they grow but I would guess next fall should be fantastic

Last fall fished the few miles of beach that run south of RP a mile or two offshore with my boat and caught lots of triggers just like you stated, Wood Spinner. What a blast, they sure were fun fighting fish, easy to tell when you had one on versus a rock bass. Absolutely agree with you, what a fun fish to catch!

I use anything that worksand that may chang as the day progresses. One thing that has had great results is the gulp alive salt Squid 3" in sugar and spice. The only problem with these is the trigers eat off the tenticals. When that happens I add a little green tail that is made for crappie fishing. Walmart has these at .99 per pack of about 10. They are silver with a green tail.
Major problem finding the Gulp Squid 3" in the sugar and spice color. I have not been able to find them in the 32 oz tub at all. You can find them on line 8 pk is
about $ 7.00.
Fresh Squid is available at the fish market. Go to the last fish stall and ask for SQUID FOR BAIT cheaper. I usualy pay $ 1.50 for all I need for a few days. They tend to get stinkey so do not over buy and when you put them in the cooler or fridge be sure to put them in a jip lock bag.
I do not like shrimp as they do not stay on the hook very well.

Good luck and stop in to see us when you are down Plya De Oro #50
