Fishing 17th Oct

Plenty of bait to be had, caught the evening before, bonefish and greenbacks, Flat seas greeted Mike Berry and me Sat AM went to a reef 46 miles SE, arrived 9:00A.M Mike hooked up with a Leopard Grouper the first 5 minutes, about 15 minutes later he hooked up again with a 53 LB Gulf grouper, I hooked up with a large fish but lost it 2 minutes into the fight, all in all I hooked up with 4 fish and they all won the battle, thats the way it goes, had a grewat time flat seas both ways:cheers:

Wrestlin' those grouper, there's no sure outcomes. Last trip, we went 0 for 5 on big grouper hook-ups. Oh, the fish were there, and they were pounding our live bonefish almost immediately on the drop, but getting them into the boat? Ha! A whole 'nother story. Seeing them break a 250 lb. PowerPro main line blew my mind! We did get one we thought we had for sure, started working him up a few cranks at time. When he decided he didn't want to come up and made a run for the bottom - plink! Another main line busted. Unbelievable. So, don't feel lonesome in having the big ones get away!

I think I'm going to go back to the Mexican method of using a handline for them! :fish:
