Fiesta Cruiser is off the beach

All the friends that i took down this weekend were asking about the boat in the harbor - in the car on the way to the Malecon, one of them yelled out "oh my God, the boat is sinking" - i had to explain what had happened - i still don't get how they can let that thing sit right in the middle of the entrance to the harbor. It would seem that it should be a priority to get that thing out of there. It's amazing that's it's been 2 months and that ghost ship is continuing to haunt the harbor.

It's gotta be GREAT for business on the other margarita cruise ships! "Oh, no señor, that would nevvvver happen on one of our cruises..."

All I can do is Lawlawlawlawlawl at this lawligator of a situation. My buddy is asking me the same questions this weekend and all that I can do is tell him, "Johnny, its Mexico...". What else do you tell someone, that they're working on it?! lol This is the same place that's going to have cruise ships right????? Im just asking, pretty funny though... put a couple hundred, maybe thousand people to work in the city and start to clean the place up, its starting to look like a dump. All I see is rust and graffiti everywhere...

Hahaha, no kidding! Very ironic that rumors to the effect of "work is starting, etc." on the cruise ship dock further down the line on sandy beach and that pile of cr@p just sits out in the middle of the harbor for weeks on end. Wonder what investors of those multimillion-dollar companies would think about this situation.

I'm just waiting for the rusting hulk known as "The Yacht Club" to topple over into the marina. That thing is looking crooked now - Seems they could make a fortune in just scrap if they gave it to someone to tear down.

The same is true for a lot of shiiiiiiiittttt around RP. What about the Marriott fail???? Its just rebarb and rust over there next to where the cruise ships would be coming in. Basically everywhere you look there is rusted chain link fencing that is falling apart due to rust and neglect. I love RP, but the town is starting to look like a dump, rust everywhere and on everything...

You are right about the rebar, etc. However, on the plus side we've noticed quite a bit of painting going on around town. Some new paved roads and even stripping on some of the roads! The Mayor has had a major trash pick-up program going on. The Malecon looks beautiful and every time we've been there has been very clean. Also the vendors were very nice and backed off immediately if told we weren't interested. Made it a very pleasant shopping experience. Also noticed that all the fish markets seems much cleaner.

I've heard rumors (I do love those rumors) that things are actively trying to be accomplished about some of the unfinished projects. I do know that the Mayor is very involved in making Penasco one of the best vacation destinations. We do have a lot going for us.

I agree there is a lot of activity with new building and repairs. But some of these large unfinished projects should be torn down - especially the yacht club - i don't remember where i read it, but i recall reading that engineers have looked at the project and said it can't be finished now because it wasn't built level. If that's the case - tear it down. I'm sure they can sell it to a salvager. Speaking of closed businesses - is the Pointe on the Maelecon closed? It seemed to be when we were down this weekend.

Mark...are they slowly taking it apart....or is the tidal/wave action doing the damage? (Maybe a shrimp boat clipped the top sections???)

Just an UPDATE... it's still there but ever so slowly disappearing as it's being dismantled by Thugs... photo taken during low tide Saturday morning Cinco de Mayo...

In that photo that rock that you can see behind the pick-ups has a very deep hole in front of it... when I was shooting some underwater night time video I was right there... when I dove down I found a sea star (formerly known as star fish) and there were shrimp all over down there...

But when I said deep I meant deeper than I could see with my kryptonite underwater light... I dove down and shined my light toward the bottom and I couldn't sea bottom out from that rock I was shooting video of... then shined my light toward the surface and couldn't sea the surface... since I was by myself and free diving I thought I should surface and get to where my feet could touch bottom.... I really didn't want to get to the bottom to find maybe a net or old anchor line to get tangled in.... but it was cool.... here's the vid if you want to sea..?
