What's the point of testing? Everyone should assume they have it at this point. If you get deathly ill, then maybe a test is in order to save your life. Otherwise, assume you are carrying it. Assume your neighbors are carrying. Assume everyone you see is carrying it.

Consider you get a test today. The results are negative. Yay! Literally in the time it took to get the results back you could become infected by just about any source. Unless you stay home 24/7 and have no contact with the outside world you are susceptible to catching the Chinese virus at any moment.

Testing is the only way to know how widespread and serious it is. Absent a test it's an opinion.
I assume you then spend the rest of your life locked at home !!

Last December no one knew how serious this virus is or were sure of it's independent existence. Tracking mortality, rate of spread and incidence through TESTING, determining exactly what this disease is, how it is spread established How serious it its. There is a whole science and branch of medicine around this called EPIDEMIOLOGY.

Testing is not a TREATMENT. In fact there is no established treatment for this virus. It's like the common cold. There is no treatment for the disease so it is treated symptomatically, reducing the symptoms not the disease. Testing will not cure the virus but it can reduce the spread and impact of it.

President Trump usually refers to it as the Chinese virus. As did MSNBC, CNN, NBC, Reuters etc until a few weeks ago when the Chinese propaganda machine ramped up and liberals suddenly started calling it racist. The term racist has no meaning anymore. Liberals have cried wolf too many times in the last 4 years.
P.S. It IS the Chinese virus. They created it. They lied about it. They continue to lie about it. The own it.
