Buying frozen shrimp

Joe, I think you might be talking about Jose'. Have bought from him for over 20 years. He has a very loyal following. He is very honest, will be happy to clean the shrimp for you as well. Oftentimes, I bring what I have caught from the shore or kayak to him and he will clean it all for a few bucks. Really good guy...

His store/stall is easy to remember. It's called "Jose' ". Now located right underneath Perico Merinero.

The guy I've bought from recently is located under Debbie's....when I posted before, couldn't remember the name of the place.....

I should have said....used to be.....who knows how many of the vendors will be out of business by the time the malecon get's finished.....

I agree with the leery part but I ate at the sushi restaurant that was on Freemont, wasnt bad and I didnt get sick so thats a plus. To my understanding Mexicali and San Luis are known for their Chinese restaurants because the chinese had a big labor influence on the railway system. They settled in Mexicali and Ive been told and read on the internet that Mexicali has a lot of good chinese food. After hearing that, Ive always assumed thats how RP got some of its chinese restaurants because of the railway. Over under on the negative comments about me using the word ASSUMED? GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

This is a little late for now, but I believe the name is Ocean Products. It's a rather large processing plant that you can't miss. As someone previously posted, it's on the east side of Sinaloa, one block east of Benito Juarez, about directly east of Burger King. They sell to anyone. They have a board posting the current prices of their main items.

Many have loyalties to various vendors on the Malecon, but they all sell previously frozen shrimp, sometimes frozen and defrosted more than once. The shrimp boats go out for several days at a time and freeze their shrimp catch on board. Shrimp season is now over, so there is no "fresh" shrimp available, unless you happen to find some off a panga with heads on. In addition to quick frozen shrimp, Ocean Products sells a variety of frozen sea food, including flounder, scallops, octopus, crab, etc. Buying on the Malecon is fine for local consumption. But, if you are on the way home, it's best to stock your cooler with quick frozen sea food.
