Buying frozen shrimp

I know someone posted where you would buy shrimp at a great price other then at the fish market, but I can't find it and memory doesn't serve. I think they mentioned the plant where they box them up and sell them to the market guys.

Need to buy some shrimp today for our granddaughter and looking for the best place. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hey Amigo do they sell the big blue shrimp there? I remember awhile back i used to buy shrimp from a house next to asadero gus, they where big blues frozen in the box
to die for..This place on sinaloa sells to the public or do you have to be in the click..

The place I remember sold to the public....not sure if that is the same place...but YEARS ago when I checked it out, the prices were higher than what I was getting on the malecon...but then again, I used a vendor (Blackie) who didn't have 3 different scales (one for the Japanese, one for us gringos, and one for the locals....and before anyone jumps on me...I got that from one of the vendors!)!!!

I'm pretty sure they sell to the public... I've never been there, but have talked to many people that have... I couldn't tell you if they sell the jumbo blues there... lucky for me, I know several shrimp boat captains and owners who always give me shrimp...

Ummmmmm....jumbo blues....had those a couple weeks ago when my daughter was down from Seattle....wrapped in bacon, cheese sauce, over rice (a recipe from the OLD Costa Brava).....4 were enough for a meal!!!!

Bill...in the area of 10-13 to the lb....nice blues....even cleaned up well....only a couple with any veins to speak of out of 20 or so shrimp....got them from the vendor who used to be under the BooBar...then moved to the very end towards the parking areas

OH!! your god!! Joe where have you been? they move over a year ago!!! and it is awesome if you like sushi, and yes it is usually full, mainly by locals or sushi lovers of other countries, I've seen even japanese tourist there, must be good they were having a good time or too much sake!! and the prices are great, you pay half than in the US and get double the amount of food!! much better than Capone's!

Inka...I know they moved a while back....but I'm usually a bit leery trying out asian restaurants in Mexico....particularly Penasco....goes back to when I moved to the Phoenix area back in the 80's....went to a "chinese" restaurant in El Mirage...and it was a "combo" Mexican and Chinese buffet....one side of the buffet area was chinese dishes...the other was mexican.....just stuck in my head.....UGH!!! And, the first chinese restaurant in Penasco that I noticed was the one on Calle 13....next to the titty bar.....

I have tried the chinese place up on Samuel Ocana near Seadweller's....and enjoyed it....so will bite the bullet and try Sapporo.....

Behind La Curva

There is a great family run Seafood stove 1 block behind La Curva - VERY clean, great prices and very friendly - all without the used car lot feel of the Fish Market.

I always buy from Federico. I have for about 14 years now. He moved from Malecon to location on Constitucion, 1or 2 blocks east of Juarez a couple years ago. Locals go to him. Just bought nice big blues from him a few days ago @ $10/lb. His price has been $8 to $10 on average this past few months.
