Gary, the Mexican fishing license is federal, also is good for fresh water fishing anywhere in the country. Believe it or not they used to sell them at the Mexican Consulate in Phoenix now on Camelback Road or by mail from www.conapescasandiego.org . In RP I know how to drive there but I dont know how to tell you to drive there. Rosy or portugal will write you a boat policy also you can buy a policy on the internet from Vagabundos Del Mar. But you may have to join their club. Boat insurance is cheap. The fishing license used to be about 45 bucks for a year, but I haven't bought one for 2 years. I have never bought a license to fish RP but we needed them to fish the gamefish tournaments in other towns. We won 3rd place out of 270 teams in the point division in the Bisbee Black and Blue Cabo in 2006. Bad Company out of Los Angeles $3,900,000.00 dllrs prize money 1st. place us $19000.00 dllrs.

We caught all small fish under 200 pounds, in that tournament anyfish under 200 pounds is a release live fish and counts for 200 points in the tournament. WE had 600 points for 2 sailfish and a marlin. 1st place in the point division was 100,000.00 dllrs second place was I think 38000.00 dllrs. Bad Company finished 1st for biggest marlin ( which they must kill to weigh). And I think they won a couple of jackpots. To make a long story short we were on the bottom end of the money qualifiers.

Be sure what you buy and what you think you buy with Mexican and American boat Ins. Last time I checked they were liability only. Are you covered on the water? Is your stuff covered on and off the water? Trailer covered? Anything covered when it is not on the trailer and attached to your vehicle except liability. And of course, Is your American ins. good in mexico?
JUST BE CAREFULL.

Good warning by Bill....my policy for the jetskis ONLY covers me when they are on the trailer AND attached to the tow vehicle. Fortunately they are too heavy to lift off the trailer, even by 3-4 big Mexicans!!!

I haven't been able to find anyone that writes insurance in Mexico for jetskis for anything more. From my previous research, you are able to get coverage for boats....recommend talking to Rosy, or contacting Vagabundos......

Joe, also try www.mexpro.com they will cover you in the water. My boat had full coverage and was around 500.00 year and I switched it to just liability and its around 140.00 its mexican insurance and only covers the boat in the water. Rosy should be able to write a policy as it is Mexican insurance.

Bill....I haven't found anyone covering jetskis...but I'll check again when my renewal comes up.

Well lo and behold....they do cover jetskis now.....but unbelievable price.....with my situation, it would run me about $1300 for the year (2 jetskis....one operator under 22....one jetski with top speed over 50 mph).....UGH!!!!! That's almost 4x what I pay in the US. UGH!!!

We can insure any boat that is factory-made. Liability only is affordable, depending on coverage wanted, and covers you in the water. Your auto policy covers your liability while you have it on the trailer.
