Came across the border this afternoon and had the green light changed to red - same thing for guy behind us. All the slots were filled and they had us part on the right side of the road. Asked to open our trunk - border guard took a quick look and wished us a good trip.

What we noticed was they seemed to be checking a lot more cars then normal. Not sure if anyone else has had the same experience or just today.

Quite a few cars on the way down today - and last Thursday.

When we came thru back in march was same thing everyone got red light and slots were full. The just asked for passports and did a quick check of contents in vehicles and off we were.

It is well marked at the beginning. Then we sort of followed the cars. Found the sign pointing to Penasco. We took a right at the detour - then I think it was a left at next road (or at least road where most cars seemed to be turning left) and drove a few blocks to the main road to Penasco. DH was driving so I wasn't paying much attention except looking for Penasco signs. No idea how long they will be working on the bridge.

Noticed I should have been wearing my glasses for initial subject line!

Here's a Google map link with the route marked in blue....you turn right after after the Pemex Gas Station at the bottom of the hill, instead of veering to the left....then you take the first left turn, cross the river bed, and then a right on the first street that goes thru...you come out onto the regular route just past the Arizona Market.....take a right at the stop sign....and continue to Rocky Point

You can always meet her at the border (on the Mexican side)...you waste a couple of hours and gas...but.....you won't be worrying. I've done that once for my daughter and her mom (they were worried about her mom's car)....both ways!!!

I came down Wednesday and on the US side the guy didn't even get out of the booth, just gave us a hand wave to go.
Caught a red light for the first time in 2-3 years, a cute girl officer looked in the back of my SUV and I talked to her about how hot
it was Monday and she finally said have a nice trip.
I really like the detour, I will try it even when the bridge is finished.

Humidity in Tucson? A whole new level here, when we woke up we were treated to 85-90% yesterday morning.
I am so glad I installed a 26K BTU Mini-Split 3 weeks ago. It works well especially at removing that HUMIDITY.

Glad the humidity is going up in Tucson, means some great cloud watching is coming soon and hopefully some rain in AZ and here.
